Here it is guys, my first attempt at painting an army. So far I've only assembled a box of slugga boys and a looted Russ. But I have painted one slugga for a test scheme, so here are the pics!
I think he could use a bit more highlighting but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I only have to paint about 100 more, woohoo!
And here is the tank.
He is indeed giving the runty gits that are about to get run over the finger.
The fluff behind these guys are that they are even more obsessed with fire and explosions than other orks, so I'm going to outfit them with lots of burnas, scorchas, and rokkits. I went with orange just to show their obsession with fire a little more, and I think I'll call them the "Flaming Fists". So please, tell me what ya think!
My questions for you guys.
1) Keep painting with craft paints or switch to GW?
2) What models to buy next?
Kraft paints , damn . . thats one sexy orange , anyways if you want to stick to kraft go ahead if you want to go to GW go ahead , what i would suggest is get another box of boyz a warboss with the chainsaw ( not the squiggie one ) and then a trukk i guess . But more boys is the way to go =) .
Well, I prefer GW paints mainly cause I've never used kraft paints... and why not name them the Flaming Fingers? Also, the orange is indeed sexy.
/Jealous of the hotttt orange
Anyways i would say stick with the Kraft paints they look nice ^^ and i like the Ork as well, i'll be following this thread!
*slaps 007's hands away* My sexy orange!
Oh, by the way, you may want to Matte Varnish it when done to make sure your paint doesn't fall off, kraft paints arn't always good about that.
Thems a nice orange. Something to consider, there isn't much contrast on the model.
A few dark/black areas would really bring that orange out nicely.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Hey guys, thanks for all the comments. I kind of had mixed feelings about going with orange before I started to paint, so I'm glad you guys like it cause it makes me feel like I made the right choice.
Anyhoo, I just finished the skin on 7 of the boys, so theres 7 more to go and then I'll post some pics of the group (skin only).
Tommorrow I'm going to make a trip to the hobby store and pick up some foundation paints (red) and maybe a warboss or some kans. And I'll do my best to stay on top of posting pics, especially if I keep getting good input from you guys.
I, just like all the others, really like your colourscheme, even if it's very far from what I would have done....ever, I must say it really gives character and it goes well with the green skin. Impressive.
I especially like the swords, think they look really really nice with that added character.
Please let us follow your progress.
I've been busy and lazy over the past few days but I'll show what I've got done at least.
Well, the pics could do with a little better lighting, but you get the idea. I tried to highlight the skin a little more for these guys and I think I like the result. Parts of them are a little messy but I was also trying to zip through them, so I'm not complaining. I also bought a warboss today and I'm waiting to get a box of black orcs to spruce him up a bit. I'd like to put a powerklaw on him too, but I'm at a loss for where to find one. I might be going to the shop again tommorrow so I can actually see how this game is played, so if you have any suggestions on future purchases, let me know.
Also, I realize that these guys need to be based. I'm thinking I want to put them on either city ruins or desert bases so if you think something will go well with them dont hesitate to speak up. Thanks!
Thanks for your comments! You're actually one of the painters on this forum whose work I really like, so hearing that from you is awesome for me!
The skin looks really good. Keep up the good work. Oh, and foundation paints are amazing. Don't paint without them.
