Looks much better =) *nods* The only things that I'm iffy on are the spear blade, but, as you said, the pic isn't doing it justice, and (and this wasn't apparent in person, though I can't remember how much you had done back then) the cream intererior of the robe. The cream just seems a little too yellow-y and rich for the rest of the scheme, muted as it is. Minor things though, and just me being pedantic. -t.

Well, I have completed the exchange mini and he looks something like this: ![]() I then decided to take another go at photoing a couple of my last minis. Namely Grimgor and the Warrior priest: ![]() ![]() I still need to practice much more with my camera and lighting, plus photoshop. I'm sure you can see this to be true, the photos are OK but not that good still. ![]() Then, I decided to enter the competition that Jon Q is running. I decided yet again on a random space marine chapter. I wanted one with a bright colour that people quite often struggle painting: the Imperial Fists. Unfortunately the photos seem to be playing up and my lack of ability makes the armour look less than yellow like it actually does. But, I am really happy with the look. The yellow was done as follows:Undercoat white basecoat of VMC Yellow Orche mix in golden yellow to previous colour until you have a good strong base - doesn't have to be too yellow. wash with a very watered down VMC Flat Brown (shading) reapply the Yellow Orche + Golden Yellow, adding more yellow with each layer. pure Golden Yellow add Sunburst Yellow to the Golden Yellow add skull white to highlight I rarely keep an exact eye on my mixes, I do it by eye. ![]() Will try again for a decent photo of the marine, this looked better when I made it. ![]() All comments and criticism welcome as usual. Kuffy

The Farseer looks great, Kuffy, but for me that Warrior Priest took the thunder. That colour on him looks simply fantastic! I didn't notice it as much before, but it really looks amazing, adding a lot to the armour.

ZOMG a lemon! -_^ Like the farseer, kinda seems like he needs some freehand on that cape, but is otherwise lovely. Grimgor still doesn't look as good as he does IRL, but the photo seems to be improving... The Priest is pretty lovely eh? Done good there. The yellow on the Fist does seem kinda flat, I think he just seems a bit too clean, somehow. I think he is somehow a little over-uniform. There isn't (or doesn't seem to be) much differentiation between the yellow right at the top of his backpack, and the yellow on the underside of his arms, for instance... I think some weathering and shading with browns would really help the little fella out. Something else that would be really cool (and I've just thought of) would be to paint his feet, and the lower greaves (or leg armour, whatever that is called) in a slightly darker colour, and gloss it, as if it is wet with melted snow... So, you better do that, eh? Loving the IW head btw, score one back from that pesky DanJones fella... =D -t.

Great work all round mate. The Farseer looks a little dull to me, you usually see them super bright so I guess its a change. Grimgor looks wicked. The lemon dog marine of filth is very bright. I usually give them a wash of brown to weather them, but you are the paint master not me. I like -T's suggestion of wet feet. Yellow urine around his feet to show his fear for the great Sons of Olympia. Quote:

I'll be honest your Imperial Fist kind of looks garish but maybe that is just the camera. However your Grimgor Ironhide and the Priest look cool. ![]() JvK

Macewind - You don't check here enough then. ![]() Lost Nem - Thanks, I have enjoyed painting them an aweful lot. Though, as Mr -T says below, Grimgor doesn't look as good in picture as he truely does. minus_t - Shush you. I am happy with the farseer, he's good. The fist, hm, perhaps. Bad photos really as well. Dan - :p Kuffy
