If I might humbly make a suggestion, I think the Empire models all look very good with a light blue cloth, what is called Carolina Blue or Sky Blue here. This is what I'm thinking:

I think a dark green or brown would look excellent as well. Good to see you getting back into the painting side, and looking forward to seeing the excellent Mannfred Von Carstein model.

Blue would look nice, but how about doing a white-ish brown, like linen?
That way you could try and do some nice dirt and grime effects on the bottom of it, whilst keeping him looking pure and holy...

You would probably need to make sure your metals were fairly dark for that to work.
Hm, you've given me ideas now. I may have to do it myself =P

The model has a lot of purity seals on it, including one giant one on his back. Creme colored robes might not be enough contrast to parchment color.

I do indeed find myself agreeing with frozencore about the cream blending with the scripts etc. I have found a few nice ones from CMON:

I was thinking something alone the lines of one of these. Not the same, but perhaps close. Or my original thought of green. Still undecided.

Well young sir... what colours would you suggest? I think a base of Shadow Grey, but am not sure. I bow to your artistic background etc. -__^

I'd say it's probably worked up from somewhere like codex grey (bits look a bit darker), but it definitely has some blue in it, maybestart with codex grey mixed with a little regal blue for your base layer, then add codex grey for your first step up, then keep lightening it as you go...

It is a nice muted blue. I like the armor on the second one the best. I think a green could look nice too. Something like this choir robe with the striped detailing could look really sharp when it is done.

OK, so the robes isn't quite what I was aiming for, but you have to admit, it works rather well. I like the colour, will possibly dirty it up later - if I dare. The armour is dark and dirty, the way it should be The brown is a base layer for leathers and parchment. Thoughts so far? His base isn't being touched until he's done, but isn't all that special as you'll all see.
