I'm a bit late Kuffeh with my opinion, but I do love the Scythes. Great backround and the scheme is quite nice. The backround should give you a chance to experiment with some battle damage if you want.
Well I really digg the Fleah Tearers (even if Flesh Eaters are even more awesome) and I think tehy would provide an intresting new challenge rather than painting more brownish colours, so I would go with them.

So. I decided to go against everything. I realised that in general, I stick to darkened colours - such as browns, greens. dark red etc. So, I thought I'd break completely free of this and do for a quite brightly coloured chapter.
I will give the first person to post the chapter I'm doing a cookie. Anyway, the yellow isn't quite done. I used a grey undercoat (mixing white primer and chaos black), but it might not have been light enough for the yellow to sit comfortably on it enough. It should solidify properly over the next few layers. The colours used thus far are (VMC) Yellow Ochre (121) and Burnt Cad. Redy (034). The red covers really well after only three layers, the yellow not quite so much. However, the yellow is a nice strong colour base for yellow. I will do some more layers soon, maybe tomorrow, of the yellow and then I'll shade both.
One thing I have realised, is that I don't have a Griffon icon. So it will either be missing one, or I'll be brave and attempt a freehand one. =S I'll see how that goes.
Excuse the quick photos, I couldn't be bothered to set everything up. But:
What do you think?

Is that the howling griffons?
I remember them form waaaaay back. Good choice but that quartering will be a lot of work.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!

There was a painted HG company in White Dwarf a looooong time ago. It was painted by a guy called Fred Reed who ended up a regional manager for GW. Hopefully you won't suffer the same fate. The griffons look great when fielded en-mass, they really are a spectacular army.
I will watch with interest while I munch my cookie. Cookie-cookie-cookie!!

No fear of that. He's a one off marine. I will be starting on the rebuilding and repainting of my dwarf army after this I think. That's going to be an effort and a half...making dwarfs look unique. =S

Lookin' good kuffster.
Nice to see you painting and such.
I shall keep an even beadier eye on you than normal...
Also, dwarfs suck.
