I got the robes of all 10 veterans done last night and a decent start on their backpacks. It'll be close.

So as some of you know, I didn't get the veterans done in time. Had I but one extra hour to work, I would have completed them. Alas, it was not to be. I'll post some photos of the squad as soon as I remember to get new batteries for my camera.

Now, on to some interesting tidbits. I've built the grand army list as I intend it to be upon completing this army. It comes in at 9,015 points. I was tempted to upgrade to a full battle company to round off at 10,000 points, but then I remembered that I have two other armies waiting to be painted.

That's a lotta figs! I don't even want to calculate how much money I've dropped on this army. Curse you, Apocalypse!!

And just to make the task seem all the more daunting, I went ahead and made a spreadsheet to track my progress and give me an estimated time to completion. Here's a screen shot:

I like the time based on points better (though I need to pick up the pace, clearly), and I think it's a more accurate representation overall. I need to get that 234 point per month average up. This is why I just kind of sadly smile when people tell me I'm painting fast - I've got so much left to do!

Anyway. Just thought I'd share. Hope you guys got as big a laugh out of this as I did.

I sit here, with paintbrush in hand, ready to sloppily slap some paint on something, and then I see this thread and decide to play my guitar instead. Inspiring and demoralising at the same time.
They are just so good, I'm going to break into your house and swap your marines for my scruffy ones and hope you never notice.

Heh... well, I figure the full list can have anywhere from 4 - 12 scoring units. I can always get three more by adding Belial. Can't gripe about terminators being able to hold objectives.

My blood angels army is very similar to yours. although mine is only 4000 pts at the moment (with everything painted ) i have only 2 tactical squads, lots of HQ's, 3 land raiders, and the rest are similar to yours as i have half as many as you have. you're like me in somehow not having that many tactical squads.

I seem to be doing a lot of not-quite-finishing things lately. Mostly the dreadnought, which was entered thusly for the Tale of Painters project:

But isn't really "done" since I'm planning to put him on a new base eventually. I did, however, finish my squad of Veterans. I tried a new process for the robes, and it seems to have shaved some time off overall. The new washes have been helping immensely.

So now I'm starting on Sammael, who is the last entry for the first Tale of Painters project. I've been looking forward to starting this model for a while now. I'll post some progress photos as soon as I make some progress.
