The Wildriders are done!

I think they came out with a bit too much red, but otherwise I am really happy with how they turned out. The banner was left black intentionally because when I get more daring I plan on doing some freehand on it.

Comments are greatly appreciated.

Oooh, very cool. I like your first spotty horse, it looks like one of those really short haired spainish horses. The red masks are really well done too.

I'm not dead, I swear. Last month was a mess of weddings, marathon training, and a road trip that ended with me painting nothing at all. I'm back on track now though, and I wanted to share what I've been working on: Waywatchers!

Click the image to open in full size.

These guys are obviously very WIP at the moment, but I'm getting through them slowly. The models are insanely detailed and I've been taking my time on them. The dark green on their cloaks looks really good in person, probably the best set of cloaks I've done for the whole army; it's a shame they don't show up in the photos. The last major color block is the leather, and then it's on to detailing. I'm hoping to have them done by the end of the week.

Comments and criticisms are welcome!

It recently came to my attention that I had until October 1st to get this army finished and not November 1st, so I sat down today and really worked on the Waywatchers.

Overall I'm really happy with them; the cloaks and hair I think came out especially well.

Here is a closeup of the tall one who I am especially happy with.

Comments would be very much appreciated.

I only have two more models to finish for this army and about two weeks to do it in.

Spot on stuff as always, the painting on those last two is really fantastic. Congrats on getting through this with me!

Thanks! I'm going to be priming the last two models this afternoon so I'm not quite done yet, but the end is in sight!

Great Job!

These look like the best models I've seen you paint. I wish I could get my flesh tones to look as good as yours...

Hopefully you will choose to use these guys in game a lot so you can show them off

Spoony! It's a shame you couldn't see them in person, I'm pretty excited about them.

When are you going to get a log going?

A few more days of diligent painting and I have a finished Waywatcher noble.

Click the image to open in full size.

He is just going to be used as a normal Waywatcher, but I could only find 5 distinct sculpts so I added this guy to round out the unit. The washes didn't work out as well this time on the bone colored areas but I'm still pretty happy with the effect overall.

Comments?

A few days ago I finished the last model for my 2000 point Tale of Painters army.

Click the image to open in full size.

This is a Wild Rider noble armed with the Dawn Spear.

I tried to free hand a stylized sun on the spear blade and I think it came out alright. I learned that trying to paint Blazing Orange onto a black undercoat takes about 10 coats to get good coverage - that was pretty lame. I also continued to experiment with the new washes on him, and had a lot of success shading the horns on his helmet (Gryphonne Sepia), his hair (Asurmen Blue), and the horse and skulls (Badab Black). Most of these, especially the horse and skulls, turned out really well.

I am pretty happy with this guy overall and I think he is a very good looking general for the army.

Speaking of the army...

Click the image to open in full size.

Not the greatest photo I know. I like how this photo clearly shows the greens and browns I used dominating the colors, but also really highlights the red as being a bold accent color to the darker greens and browns.

This army isn't totally done, although it will be shelved for the immediate future. I have a few other character models that I plan to paint just because they look good. Expect to see them trickle their way in here over the next few months.

What does everyone think?
