    Imperial/Tyranid city:A colaborative effort

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to Warhammer 40k. However, I do have loads of experience with painting and art. The Miniwargaming Webmaster and myself (Dave) are building a Space marine/Imperial city overtaken by Tyranid. We've started already and would love any suggestions or ideas on what to include or ways to make things. Here's the start of our project:

Space Marine city overtaken by Tyranids

Please suggest away, this is your project as much as it is ours.

First off, welcome to LO! There are several fantastic painters and modelers here who I'm sure can help you out (as well as the rest of us goons!) Good start on the project, are you going to have one big "conflict point" where the 'Nid and Imperial forces are meeting, or have the Tyranid completely overrun the city and are now converting it? It looks like the first one from your galleries.

It's going to be completely over run with Tyranid spires in and amongst the buildings. I plan on making it on at least one 4x4 terrain board.

Okay, I just saw a guardsman in one of the pictures and assumed there'd be some fighting, but I see what you're doing now...great idea! Perhaps having a larger part in the middle that is really taking biomass up high? Like it's going to orbit?

I once mad a 'sarlac pit' type digestion pool springing from tiled flooring. it was a pit eating up the floor and then 5 sharp inch tall teeth surrounding it. i modeled it after the GW website article about making an ogre kingdom sacrificial pit. unfortunately i have no pics, but you could o something like that in the middle of a road or building. could count as dangerous terrain.

Thanks for the great ideas so far. The pit coming out of the ground counting as dangerous terrain sounds awesome. That's exactly what I'm talking about. Please keep coming with the ideas.

Yeah, actually - reclamation pools around the place would look awesome. You could model partially digested prey floating in the acid occasionally - like a half corroded guardsmen or something. Dont go overboard with that though - less is more with something like that.

And subscribed - sounds like a pretty sweet idea, and an epic task to boot. I'll be curious to see how it comes along!

Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.

I once had a idea bit weird I kinder tube that looks a bit like a branchless tree except the roots would go of and connect to some digestion pools and the main trunk would just go up properly connecting with a ship in orbit some where but this was one of those ideas I had at 4am after having drunk I little to much vodka

also spore chimneys look go you can by them from forge world but you look skilled enough to make one from scratch
