Dude - you've certainly been throwing these marines out nice and fast! And I've only posted 6! ![]() Consider me subscribed to your thread - i'm interested in seeing how it all ends up.

Bad-ish news!! Turns out I'll be spending most of January in a little caravan in a paddock on the horse ranch I'll be working on. This means all my plans to get stuff painted will be drastically curtailed, mostly because the ranch runs off generator power and that means no late night painting by daylight bulb, which is when I get most of my painting done. I'm going to try and get a squad done before I leave, or at least mostly done so I can finish it off when I'm done there. (It's only bad-ish news because there's a nice river right next to the ranch and I can go fish whenever I want). Unfortunately after the horse ranch I'm moving to a sheep farm for a month. I'm hoping there'll be 24 hour power there. So- keep an eye out for a termie squad early (or very late) in Jan and maybe a devastator or assault squad after that. I'm hoping I'll have enough light for a bit of light filing and green-stuffing to get them ready.

Ok, so I've used a bit of free time recently to get models prepared for painting. This sometimes this takes longer than the painting itself so hopefully it will help later. Here's what will eventually be an assault squad. ![]() And here's a pretty much complete Devastator squad. I know there's 12 marines there- the extra two heavy weapons let me swap between anti-tank (MLs and LCs) or anti-infantry (MLs and PCs). Quite a few of my squads have extra troops to allow option swaps. Add all these to my glued together termie squad and the next few months should be ok, however limited my time is.

Crimson fists are one of my favourite chapters, and it's a shame we don't see them as often as other chapters. Your painting is great, the blue looks ace. looking forward to seeing your next batch of fists. |

Disaster! I began to drybrush my termies (I'm trying to get ahead a bit- I doubt there'll be much painting in January!) and things went weird. I was at the second drybrush, Regal Blue, when I noticed that they weren't the same colour as the previous marines but were quite a bit darker. So much so that the drybrush was pretty much invisible. I couldn't work out why things had changed but guessed it might have been because I previously used an older regal blue. I checked the new and old paints side-by-side and they were the same shade but when I drybrushed with the older (original) paint then it worked! I'm not sure if this is due to the pigment or the drybrushing but the paints are drying different colours!! The bad news is that I have only a tiny amount of the original colour left and it's going to be a close call as to whether or not I've got enough to finish the army (not even considering tanks). Sound the alarms!! Any advice? Plus- if anyone has an old 'regal blue', one of the ones in the older, taller hexagonal pots (the ones before the screw cap bolt-shell pots) then let me know!!
