With all the great project logs here at LO, I figured I'd cross post a log I've been working on for a while.
This started out as a simple 750 point black templar project but I really liked the flavor of the army so I continued on with it and now I've got about 2k points for models. I did post of few of the models back in August in this thread: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...924#post982924
But since then the army has grown and shall continue growing. So enough of the talk, lets see some pictures
First off are my black templar neophytes. Those of you who know templars know that while they're the equivalent of scouts, they serve a completely different function in the army. I figure since they're meant almost exclusively for close combat, that they should probably be equiped a little differently:
Next is my emperor's champion. While I love the GW EC model (both the LE version and the current version), I wanted to do something unique for mine. So I hacked up some models and this was the result. My first time even touching greenstuff so the GS work is very rough. I'm slowly discovering that sculpting isn't for me:
And here he is with some paint on him:
Here's a pretty standard assault squad with 2 flamers:
And another shooty crusader squad:
This is a makeshift razorback which i built from a rhino and left over landraider sponsor parts. Its magnetized to have both Heavy bolter and lascannon options. HOw do you guys thinks it compares to the GW version? Turrets a little smaller i guess...Oh and I misspelled TEMPLARS on the front, how silly. Don't worry, this has been fixed since this pic was taken:
Here's a shot of what I have left to paint. This picture does not include the 3 more rhinos I just bought last week (one of which will be turned into another razorback). Actually since taking this picture I've already painted up another close combat crusader squad:
closeup of fist and melta guys:
Soo....here's how my army looks thus far.
Pretty much all the infantry is done. There's definitely still a lot more to go (1 razorback, 1 dreadnought, 1 drop pod, 2 rhinos, 1 land raider crusader, and perhaps some converted grey knight allies)
I hope you guys drop in on this log once in a while and cheer me one in my progress.
i wasted my whole life on warhammer so it's a good thing i have 2 wounds and a 2+invul
MrDee, I've seen your templars and I'm really surprised that you've only been painting since May. Your stuff is really well painted! Did you mean you've only been painting templars since may or miniatures as a whole?
That is one of the best Templar armies I have ever seen, congrats on all the work you put into it! I would have fainted after the 1,000 highlight to the black, but it truly does look amazing. The neophytes look especially good, they look menacing but not as B.A. as the initiates, which I like. Can't wait to see a painted LRC!!
Very nice, keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing more if you make some. Those are some really incredible Black Templar.
Sajiisde: Glad you like the neophytes. It took me a while to figure out how to make them look more close combat oriented than the standard scout models. I got the helmed head idea from a Blood Angels army i saw on eBay and then the space marine assault arms seemed like the natural next step to make them look slightly more armored.
Thanks for the comments guys, more are on the way
that army looks fantastic mate! Really good.
Your champion conversion looks great too! Well done is about all I can say!
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
