Right Ive finally bitten the bullet and put my name down for the next Tale of Painters. Since then Ive been a busy busy bee and I will try and put some photos up later on (once I work out how to use my mums camera). This will be the first time that I have ever painted a whole force and I haven't actually painted anything since about 2002 (and I was pretty woeful then) so I am hereby warning you I CANT PAINT.
My scheme is that of a Lizardmen army that lives near volcanoes. The Skinks and Saurus will have Blazing Orange skin, Chaos Black scales/crest that will be highlighted with Fortress Grey, Bleached Bone weapons. Ive painted some yesterday and it looks pretty cool.
Right here is my 2000 Point Target
Done WIP Bought Not Done
Slann Mage Priest - 590

Plaque of Tepok

Scar Veteran - 126

7 Chameleon Skinks
3 Salamander Hunting Packs
Hope you all like what Im doing, Ill post some pictures up soon ;Y
Oh and if you want to hear more about the army, check out my blog on The Creation of the Lava Lizards.
flaming lizards? flaming lizards who spew flame? could it get better? not much.
a flaming stegadon might be pretty cool.
Here we go, my first couple of units. I just did 10 saurus and 10 skinks. But Ive undercoated all 20 saurus and 32 skinks from my 5th edition started set. I managed to stick em all together without using ANY glue. I can coz im amazing .
Anyway here are picks of all my "army" put together, then the general painting area pic. Then actually some painted skinks and saurus and finally my whole "army".
Just a quick few notes. I really dont like painting the old skink models. They are really hunched and have a very closed posture and this makes them hard to paint. I will buy a box of 24 skinks and this will actually be the main skinks in my force so some of these guys wont get used.
I really like the saurus, I have never highlighted or done anything like that so hopefully the scales will get better the more I paint.
Base-wise I need to buy some sand as Im planning to have rocks and lava running through the bases, I tried this on one skink model without sand and it just looked like I drew lines on an unpainted base.
Comments and criticism are always welcome.
This is a really neat idea. In case you neede some motivation here is a link to an army done the same sort of colour shceme.Warhammer - Toronto 2005
i wasted my whole life on warhammer so it's a good thing i have 2 wounds and a 2+invul
Wow, that makes me feel good about my meagre talents...
Anyway thanks Hero, thats the kinda bases Im going for.
Ive painted up some more skinks and a few more Saurus. I dont have any pics as my mum took her camera to a wedding.
Also Im gonna buy my stuff off Gifts For Geeks. They have lots of stuff at 25% off and you can email them and ask about things. I asked them to put up Krox and Salamanders and they put them up ay 25% off in 2 days.
They are based in UK but I think you can get funky delivery options for all you yanks out there.
Also Im kinda bumpingthis as it almost dropped off the front page
No bumps! No bumps!
Otherwise, cool find on those prices. My local store gives a nice discount, so I'm buying everything through them from now on, especially if they get tables built like they say they are.
I like your paint scheme, keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more.
