Welcome to Librarium Online!
As some of you already know, I am hoping to attend Heat 1 of this yearís UK Grand Tournament, and will be taking my pure Beasts of Chaos list. My army list can be found here although the WD Hordes of Chaos list will make or break me depending on whether we can still take HoC magic Items or not. Irrespective of that, I am hoping to make a blog here chronicling my army preparation for the event, including converting and painting, and hopefully some battle reports/army list tweaking and feedback from opponents.
So, to kick it off, here are images of my WIP Beastlord, Valshr the Bane:
Next are some WIP images of my Centigor, almost ready for painting, just a bit of gap filling and smoothing to do, Iíll link these as I donít want to mess with the page format:
I am also working on some minotaurs which I hope will come out something like this, but with hooves (please note this is NOT my artwork):
I will add WIP shots as and when I can.
Not much to report really, I've done a little more work on various things, but nothing worthy of any images just yet. I'm working on getting my Tuskgor chariots finished, and need to get my Minotaurs underway. Should have something to show you by the end of the coming week, I hope.
To tide you over until then, here are some overall shots of the army as it stands, lots of painting to do, and a fair bit of converting to finish too.
Firstly, some overall shots, and then a few close ups of models of particular interest, either stuff I haven't shown before, or stuff that really needed better pictures. The standard of my photos is still pretty poor, so I need to work on that too.
Now comes some odds and sods from the army. Here's my take on a minion from the video game Overlord. It will count as an ungor in the army, and I think it adds to the "raiding horde" look my army is going for. All he really needs is the Sheep's face finishing, and painting:
Next are my Bray Shamans, Lots to do to finish of the "Beasts" one, and the "Shadow" Shaman needs work on the paint job - I tried to make him look all "shadowy" but it didn't work, so I think a regular brown/pink look will probably be better.
Lastly is my 3rd Tuskgor Chariot. I have 4 in total and may stretch myself to 2 more if depending on how well they do in the GT. This one is fully converted, only needs a decent paint job now.
Let me know what you think.
I think you got a very nice army coming together here. I realy like the converted shamans they look fantastic.
THe only thing I don't like is when you mix in the humerous elements such as the Sheep and the Pumpkin-being. It (IMHO) takes a whole lot of the gritty realistic feeling you'vecreated away. I'd recommend you to keep them in a seperate list as the two manners chrash and the result is rather disperate.
The conversions look ace though and I do like the funny looking minis too. THe Sheep rider is absolutely ace.
So, it's update time. I haven't really had chance to do much in terms of work this weekend, as I took my beasts to Warhammer World for the 25th Year Anniversary, played a 1300pts game with an Empire player, he played well but his cannons let him down, and in the end I almost steamrollered him. A Solid Victory under my belt, which isn't bad considering I've never faced Empire before. It was fun, and enlightening.
Still, I haven't been completely idle, and here is my WIP first attempt at a minotaur from the Ironguts box set:
Sorry about the distance on the images, but I don't have any photo-manipulation software on my work PC
