He's really starting to pop.
You aren't finished with the horns yet, are you?
Also, if I might suggest it, I'd put a strong contrasting colour (maybe a red or an orange) on some of the details, like the gems, to really emphasise them and him through the juxtaposition.
Thanks for the progress update.
Cervantes: In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd.

He looks great David. I really like the colour of his dress. Like Jon said, add a small dash of colour and he'll look fine. =)

nice to see you getting round to finishing that guy![]()
I like the extreme blues, Im not keen on the horns however. Just dont think they fit with the other styles there.
Still brilliant work.
Grr cant rep you again yet!

It may be all the blue from his dress thing but the leaves don't seem to be green enough to me - they seem to have a bluish tint to them. The model itself is looking great though, can't wait to see him finished.
I'm calling this bugger done. I've named him The One Year Weaver since I spent a year not painting him.
Looking back, I think I dove in pretty hard with no real vision of where I was going to take him as to color and mood. I was caught up in his flowing robes and painted them that aqua green. I picked at his skin but didn't like base color I'd chosen and had trouble painting around the bindings across his torso. So I put him down and ignored him for many months.
I picked him up a week and a half ago, determined to clear my painting queue and have since remembered why I put him down in the first place. I feel like I spent a lot of time on his hair for minimal payoff. The vines give the model a Dionysian flair, or maybe a Christ look. The horns do make a nice halo, after all. I settled on the skin, too, not even glazing the final layers. I tried Fair Skin first and panicked as soon as I saw the results. I switched to the Rosy triad and liked the results well enough to call it done and move to the spites.
So yeah, I still like the model, but I don't think I did it justice. There are parts I pulled off well but as a whole I think it falls short. I repainted more on this model than I have on probably any other. It was a lesson in perpetual dissatisfaction, which is one reason I think it best to call it done.
After the Weaver are the finally finished Dryads. Two months later.

I need to drybrush the gravel and some of the herb mix, maybe dab a bit of ink here or there on those areas. I like the static grass. I paint the edge of the base with blackened brown, maybe a medium brown.

I think he looks a lot better as a completed model than as a WIP and I understand the feeling of enough is enough. Sometimes you just have to put a model down and call it done. For my part, I think he looks pretty good.
10 more glade guard. A few are converted so that I can run these as a unit of 10 waywatchers. I painted a musician so that the unit can double as glade guard or glade guard scouts.
