Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've had a desire to do a Slaaneshi army for a while, and finally got motivated. I painted my Keeper of Secrets a couple of weeks ago, and it has really got me going to complete this themed army.
Goals for this army:
Obviously Slaanesh/Noise Marine
Raptor Squad with the awesome wings from the Possessed sprue Got all the parts, currently WIP
Converted Obliterators Built, need greenstuff
Lots of Sonic weapons Done
1-2 squads of mormal Marines Done
Keeper of Secrets and Daemonettes Keeper done, Damonettes started
Custom Daemon Prince with lash 95%done
Lash sorcerer working on it - see below...
keep horned helmets to a minimum Yep -- it looks great!
no tanks Nope - I have EC Land Raider door from ForgeWorld on order!
Karmoon Special Terminator Squad Done
Terminator squad with pre-heresy style Not yet, stay tuned
So here are a few pics of the stuff I have so far. (pics do not show everything, yet...)
The Keeper of Secrets that got it started (still WIP)
The beginnings of the Daemon Prince
some Noise Marines
My Brother-in-law had a bunch of Emperor's Children shoulderpads, and another friend a few Slaaneshi champion pads from the new sprue. The EC pads are a godsend!
Test mini for rank and file marines. Looks a lot better in real life. Not quite done, will make some changes, but in general, I know where I am going with this.
So that is the start to this crazy project. I think it will look great when on the table. I'm still worried about a couple of things related to colors and unity within the army, but I won't be completely sure until I have another few test guys completely painted. I do know that it will be toned much more purple than pink, and will generally be a dark-keyed army. That can change at any time.
Stay tuned. I should have some progress to show soon.
Looking good! That should be a sharp amy when it's completed. Say, where did you get that Daemon prince (the unpainted one)? I like the look of it!
Alright, aeroplane, I expect to see this army done in two weeks. This is clearly possible if you would only stop flying those planes and focus more on the 'priorities.' :p
Spambot kill tally. . .337
Thanks for the support, guys. I appreciate it!
redarmy27 - The Daemon Prince is the LOTR model 'Gulavhar,The Terror of Arnor' (99111466029) It's a pretty cool looking model, and I was attracted to it because of the wings. The whip is from the Tyranid Hive Tyrant. I'm not sure if I'm going to give him a weapon in the other hand. He will have a helmet/faceplate thingy - it makes him look a lot more 40K.
danjones87- Good spot on the model! And yes, I probably will paint the shoulder trim in gold. My original thought was to have the model's right shoulder signify what squad he is in, and I suppose I still can... I'm trying out a bunch of stuff today - pics soon!
Lapin du Guerre- I agree! However, this army is not yet completely purchased, so I think I have to go and work a bit...
Some progress... all very WIP
So here are the sonic weapons, all mostly painted... The devorourer conversions are ok, I think that there should be a bit of guitar wire on them to help it tie-in. The 'real' sonic weaponry looks best, although I really like the bolter conversion with the wire!
Noise marines have an all all-gold right shoulder, and are predominantly black.
Rank and file marines. Gold all around the shoulders looks great! - thanks dan. I think when it's all said and done there might be 2 squads of these guys,
Just starting out. I like this model! - but there is a lot of work to do...
The guitar wire on the noise marines looks unnatural. I know its SUPER stiff and hard to bend becuase ive used alot myself. I suggest getting hold of two sets of flat ended plyers. These have no groves in them so you can slide them up and down the wire and not leave big crush marks all over it and be able to move it into a nice postiton.
Id suggest looking at the rims and banding on the chest and legs too aeroplane. It might look nice with further gold trim or maybe silver.
Nice work so far. What are you going to do for the bases? a model is NEVER finshed until the base is done.
Gold banding on the Noise Marines.
I'm probably not going to paint the banding on the silvery/purple guys... But you never know...
Raptor test models today, maybe terminators as well.
Bases - most likely my standard, so it fits in with the rest of the army.
Nothing special, but it looks great on the table.
A bit more progress - most everything I did today was assembly of normal stuff, making combi-plasmas, searching through the bits box, etc...
Here is what's interesting:
The more Noise marines I make, the more I truly dislike the GW Sonic Blaster. It's not easy to make look good because the flat of the shoulder (where it touches the torso) is at the wrong angle -- if you put it flush on the body, either it won't fit, or you will have to rotate the gun up so far that it looks stupid. Similar problems exist for the other arm. AND it's heavy enough that it must be pinned.
This guy is a classic example - the gun is where I want it, but the shoulderpad looks like it's falling off...
Anyway, I'm really liking the bolter conversions with the guitar wire.
Test Raptor. Nothing fancy, but I like the look! I should remove the Khorne symbol...
This guy is coming along, slowly... I think I have figured out how I will blend the colors together in a way that looks good. I need to fill some gaps in his arm before it gets too painted.
Well, that's it for updated for awhile. I'm off to work for 4 days, followed by a short trip to the mountains, then back to work...
Stay tuned, but there will be a long gap this time. Thanks!!
