this is practically a flawless model, everything is very clean and blended well. very very very nice!

Hey -t,
Really nice Wayfarer, although a little dark IMO (might fit your army, but mine has a much lighter green than yours). Any plans to pin a little GS ball slightly above his hand?
Any progress on the alt Baldur? I really like the idea, and if it's not an impossible task, will attempt it as 1) I'll probably be getting a 2nd squad of WoO for the lolz (20 meatshileds) 1b, War Wolves will make that fun 2) Although I like the Baldur model, the action pose is much better.

Well, I'm certainly subscribing to this thread...
As for your lighting, it's fantastic, especially for being your first attempt at such. I think the only thing keeping the model from really standing out is that it is too dark. The deep blue source light coupled with the darker cloth bits force you to work mainly on the lighter raised areas of him, like his doodads and such. For source lighting to really stand out, one needs subtlety, the ability to spread around the paint to go from strong light to lighter. You certainly have the entire concept of spreading light around, I'll I'm trying to say is that it's a bit less obvious on this model, because the subtlety is difficult to notice due to dark light on dark color.
Anyway that's just my opinion as an amateur hobbyist. But really, you are quite the painter, as I'm sure you already know. I'd love to see you try it on something dynamically colored...

Did you retake the pics? They look brighter than before. Earlier, I really couldn't see much about the model. As for the lighting, what's supposed to be causing the glow? It seems odd just because there isn't a context for why part of him is lit and the other part isn't. On the pics from the top back, the transition from blue to the rest of the cape doesn't look smooth IMO. Are you keeping all the base edges black? This one might be a good case for something like a steely blue. The model is so dark that the black edge seems to really accentuate the darkness instead of setting off the model.

Alright fellas, I'm back!
Yay!
Silly computer went and died on me (I suppose I did have it for 6 years with no problems at all, so I shouldn't really complain), so I've been absent for a while...
Christmas kinda queered my pitch on the painting front as well, but I've been trying to make good headway on my various projects.
I managed to finish the 100pts of Hordes minis for December's ToP deadline (the Blackclad and the Woldwatcher), but didn't get a pic of the whole lot together, so had to joker that one.
I finished a Space Marine Captain (Captain Taal is back, and with new kit!) for the marine ToP, but unfortunately he is absent from me, so no pics of him just yet.
Things I do have pics of:
Epic Kaya (the Moonhunter) and Laris. I got very excited with these models after I picked them up, and got them painted in just a few days. They led me to an awesome game first time out of the packet, unfortunately for me it was a loss (though I lost by rolling a 7, instead of an 8, on 3d6, and then forgetting that I knocked a key model in my opponent's army down... We're having a rematch tonight!).
I also painted my GF a mini for christmas, which I really enjoyed. He's even more monochrome than usual for me...
Anyway, enough waffle.
Pics:

Laris:
...and Sweeny Todd, the Daemon Barber:
Let me know what you guys think, C&C always welcome, and maybe this time I will even be able to respond to it!
I've also got a few fun things on the go, still working on converting my 8 Sternguard veterans, ploughing through my unit of Tharn Ravagers for Hordes (I field them pretty much every game (despite them being a bit iffy), so I figured I'd bump them up the schedule), and I got given Snikrott early, on the condition I painted him as well as I could. So I am. He's an awesome model, I'm loving everything about him...

The Sweeny Todd model is really nice. All monochrome looks strange at first, but matches the films style perfectly. It must have been a absolute pain to paint.

Ooh, very nice, all of them. I like them quite a lot!

The red on Kaya's cloak is really well done. When can we see those Sternguard or Captain Taal?
