Wow, -T, that stand is pretty $@*#@!!! amazing. I suppose I should compliment your painting as well, but I've done that so much in the past... :p (great work as always).

Those stairs might get robbed!
Nice one.
Dan

Now that really does look wicked!
Very 'hard' pose and the stairs look mightily awesome. =D
Where can you get cork like that?
Looking forward to seeing more of your uberness!![]()

DJ is pretty much on the money, I picked mine up from a local art shop, cost about £1 for a foot square, I think.
It's 4mm thick, and easy enough to cut with a sharp blade, or break with fingers, for those lovely rough edges.
I spent all day packing up books and computer equipment into boxes, so I have done nothing new on the model front.
I do wish that trees would hurry up and evolve legs, so that they wouldn't be so easy to cut down.
Then maybe I wouldn't own so many heavy books...

It is nice stuff. I tend to coat mine in PVA before painting it, I find the paint gets soaked into it otherwise.
Are they leather bound books? Does your home smell of rich mahogany?
Dan

Thankyou kindly for the advice guys, greatly appreciated =)
I can relate to the book problem, my room is filled moslty with books ranging from miltary history to imperial armour. Hope all's going smoothly with the move!
=D

At least 3 of them were leather-bound.
Out of >100, I would guess.
Mostly they're either graphic design/art/typography books, or model-related books (IA, WM/Hordes, 40k, WFB, Confrontation etc etc...).
My current house does not smell of mahogany, rich or otherwise... =(
I don't think my new house does, either.
Ahem.
As DJ says (again), a coat of thinned PVA seals the cork, meaning it won't drink all your primer/paint. Just like balsa wood.

NICE job on the stairs! I have some cork laying around. May need to steal that idea (*ZOINK!*)
Re: House moving. I feel your pain, dude. I'm four months into my new place and only JUST NOW feel like everything's been unpacked. My hobby station's been up for a while, though. Should post a pic. Between me and the gf every room of the house except maybe the kitchen and bathroom has at least one bookshelf, some rooms more than one. No leather-bound stuff, I'm jealous! Mostly paperbacks and some VERY heavy hardcovers. Everything from cookbooks (slow cooker recipes to Gordon Ramsey to Rachel Ray) to old textbooks (Mao's China and After -- couldn't sell this if I tried!) to TONS of sci-fi, mystery and other fiction. Ahhh, print. Screw the Kindle!
