You dont paint Kuffy dont be silly!
Nice work -T, although, I do think we need some nid pictures! For a staffer there are very few WH models.

Well in fairness when cooks finish work and go home they don't cook themselves gourmet meals... When mechanics go home they don't work on their own cars... So when GW workers go home they don't paint GW models!
Or something like that...
(I know he's already painted them and just needs to take photos, but it's just a theory I thought I'd share in -t's defence)

Well, 3 months later, I can respond with a snappy comment.
I've had long enough to think of one.
It's: Shove it.
=p
I will try and take some pics of my nids at some point.
They should be at my home in early Jan, so that would make sense.
Deadstar is pretty on the money though. Sometimes the last thing I want to see is a space marine...
Anyway.
Recently I've been painting my Extreme Warpwolf. I'm actually doing stage by stages of him, and here are the first 4:
Stage 1:
After doing a bit of research on actual Wolves, I decided to go for a grey-ish colour scheme, with some blacks, browns and whites mixed and streaked in, so I basecoated with a mix of GW Codex Grey and VMC German Camo Black-Brown, which took two coats to get solidish cover.
Stage 2: 2 layers of shading (VMC Black Brown, and a mix of VMC Black Brown and Black, both with lots of glaze medium and water):
Stage 3: Retouched the basecoat, and worked up two layers of highlighting (VMC Black Brown & GW Codex Grey & GW Bleached Bone added to highlight) in a slightly rough, 'furry' way...
Stage 4: Blended in some of the previous highlights, and have gone up another 3 or 4 stages...
At this point I think it's as bright as I'm going to go, and I think I've spotted some places I want to go back and bring a few areas up again.
The arms are quite a bit brighter at the moment as I'll be glazing a fair few browns over them.
Exciting huh?

That is a weird looking model, but so far the colors are looking very nice indeed. Thanks for all the WIP photos, and good to see you back.

Cheers dude, it's quite cool to be back.
Obviously it's only a matter of time before the insults start flying.
Anyway, stage 5:
I've added in a few more subtle highlights (especially across his belly, where I felt they were slightly lacking), and 'browned' his forearms and hands, along with starting to darken down the furrier areas.
Next up I'll be blending the brown in a little more towards the elbows, and starting on the black fur and tail.
Total painting time so far: About 11 hours, I'd guess.
-t.
PS. He is a slightly strange looking fella, but I really like him.
Here are a few things he's reminded me of whilst painting:

OL' DEAR GODS HE RETURNS!!! And just where have you been, young man?
That is a very oddly posed mini. The face looks quite like a monkey. A MONKEY ON CRACK. Your scheme is interesting, and the painting is well done as usual.
Now, what have you been up to in THREE MONTHS?!
Kuffy

I tell you one thing, minus-t, you certainly know how to make an entrance! A brilliant model to reappear with, and the WIP photos are cool - good to see how the beast evolves.
I do find it odd that painting a warpwolf reminds you of lions, monkeys and fish (and whatever else that snake-bat-thing is), but not of actual wolves... But then he hardly looks much like a wolf, either, and for some reason I can't help but think of a mouse when I look at him!

Cheers dudes, good to know I've been missed. Slightly. Possibly grudgingly.
I've been subject of a busy life and a live-in girlfriend! It's been taking it out of me... Rubbish excuse eh?
Well, here we are with a few more stages.
I added some more browning to the forearms and hands (although it seems to have come out a little weird in the photos...), as well as a few hints of it across the belly.
I washed the fur and tail in black, and then spotted the problem: The spines (especially those down the neck) are pretty mixed in with the fur, and it seems likely that I would screw up the fur with the spines or vice versa...
So I decided that I'd basecoat them next, which meant that I needed to paint the inside of the mouth, so I got on with that too.
Anyway:
Similar-ish image of the day, and an actual wolf (though probably subject to some photoshop I think...):
