if you wanted, you could use the black templars codex, then have five marines and fifteen scouts in a crusader squad (if that is legal?), then call the marines knights, give each marine certain heraldry and attach to him three scouts of the same heraldry, they'd be called esquire (the scout with the heaviest loadout), squire (medium loadout) and then you'd have valet (lightest armed).
then you could call the sword brethren and devastators paladins.

also, you could model tactical squads on gendarmes (french heavy cavalry), the reason for this is that squads of gendarmes were often limited at six members (called a lance), i'm thinking a combat squad in razorback would be a prime representative.

for your colour scheme, i'm not too much a fan of shiny metal, i think you'd be better off with a grey (dark, light or medium), offset with other vibrant colours (emblems, banners etc. etc.)

for the cloaks, i'd recommend tabards, of cloth, quilt and chainmail

just a few suggestions! good luck with your project, keep going!

cheers!
realy good ideas but you need as many tactical marines as scouts in a crusader squad...

and black templars cant hav devistator squads...

but i love the ideas!

your iron knights are great i like the scouts verry much and i cant wait to see the army together...

you will join the elite few fluffy armies rather than tactical armies...

good luck to you sir hope to se you in ToP!

Hello!

Firstly, @ Luke- I'm afriad that's not legal per game, as you cannot take more scouts than marines in a crusader squad. Thier theme is of one marine who tutors one scout.

Secondly, LOVING THE MODELS! I really do like the look of the scouts...it's kinda tempting to steal, but I'll figure something out myself lol

Cannot wait to see more!

P.S In my opinion, the Landspeeder Storms are most likely to be released sometime next year perhaps, but I honestly don't know.

Thanks for the love guys!

I actually brought the BT codex on thursday with a mind to doing a marine scout army- the templers seem the closest to "Knights" i n fluff terms. It was really the lack of malliable scout builds that stopped me.

The fluff behind my army is one on the rebuild. Due to heavy casualties tactical squads are scarcer, having been broken down to replace losses in the assault and dev sides of the chapter. Due to the nature of the campaign, even the lowliest tactical marine has seen the kind of fighting a first company vet would have experienced, so I'm trying to represent that with the Sternguard.

Default New Stuff

Hey guys;

finished modeling my first two scout squads, as well as played some small games (500-1000pt) in the last week to test out the new squads and rules.

My one problem with the army list is the scout biker squads, and while I've started to model them, they will be dropped for ToP. They're to fragile, really struggle in combat.

Also, still love Cassius - he's a great stat line, but really needs a strong close combat unit to make him work.

I'm putting together a new couple of lists, and would like input from you guys as to what you prefer. One is a elite/scout force using a Kantor stand in, one is a flanking force using a khan stand in;

Khan
Command Squad - Company Champ, Apoth, Melta, Flamer, Power Weapon
Razorback - TL Heavy Bolter, extra armour

Cassius

5 Sternguard - 2 melta, power weapon
5 sternguard - 2 plasmaguns, power weapon

10 Scouts - CCW, Camo Cloaks, Power Weapon
5 Scouts - Shotguns, Camo Cloaks, Power Weapon
5 Scouts - Sniper, Camo Cloaks, Telion

5 Vanguard - 4 Power Weapons, Power Fist
Razorback - Heavy Bolter, Extra Armour

or

Kantor
Cassius

5 Sternguard - 2lascannons
5 Sternguard - 2plasmacannons
5 sternguard - 2 melta (kantor joins)

10 Scouts - CCW, Camo Cloaks, Power Weapon
5 Scouts - Shotguns, Camo Cloaks, Power Weapon
5 Scouts - Sniper, Camo Cloaks, Telion

5 Vanguard - 4 Power Weapons, Power Fist
Razorback - Heavy Bolter, Extra Armour

Kantor's defensive force, Khans force flank marches. Ideas?

More pics tommorow?

I like the idea behind it. Subscribed. Looking forward to seeing your ToP submission.

Some new photos.

Also, posted my pictures, two drednoughts, into this months ToP thread. It was gonna be the scout models, but really didn't have time - though I did have two made up, undercoated dreds, so they got painted instead - in a weekend in fact!
