Those sword masters are shaping up to be the best thing you have posted so far.

A simple note about your witch hunter; if he is under a street lamp at night his contrast of light and dark would be MORE distinct rather than less. Just a helpful tip, look at some film noir stuff and you will get the general idea. Low key lighting means high contrast.

Yeah I think that I know what you mean, I sort of just did him washed out. I will have to have another go at a similar concept though because I don't really want to strip him.

I have finished the armour and sword on this guy, gold and trim etc still to come, I am not very happy with the sword though I think that as a focal point it really lets the model down.

Since I am taking my photos with a single 60Watt normal lamp I have tried to play with the brightness and contrast to get the colour right, for reference the background is white.

Thanks in advance for any help, I will hold off doing the swords and get the armour done on the rest of them in the meantime.

I've had some good success doing my metals with a Boltgun base, a heavy Badab Black wash, and a quick highlight with Chainmail or Mithril (whichever one is darker). You could also try to distract from the sword with a splash of color somewhere else. He has those gem things on his shoulder pads and a big gem in his sword hilt, maybe a bight blue or red could help shift the focus.

I will definitely be adding more colours, I will probably do the gems in red though to ties in with the other units, although blue does give them a wonderfully cold feel.

Thanks for the tip on the metals as well, I have a huge amount of trouble doing metalics.

That looks really well done. My only suggestion is to put a tiny dot of white in the upper left corner of that red gem in his sword. Otherwise I think he looks great. How are you feeling about the metals?

It's amazing to see the difference between the two pics. Since you've done nothing more on the armour since the pic in yesterdays post (and I mean it looks alright, like well painted and all) the quality of this and todays post is tremendous. It goes from "nice painted" to "freaking amazing"!
I love how you've combined the very smooth blending with the extremely hard highlighting. It gives a fantastic result.
I agree with xbanditsx on the white dot, but that's about all I can find for you to improve.
Inspirational and generally amazing.
