New army, new log! As the title suggests, I'm doing Imperial Fists - an army I've always wanted to make but never thought I'd be able to paint. It's exciting to be doing a chapter that actually exists!
So far, I've painted a Captain that I converted from the Games Day UK 2008 miniature, although I'm unlikely to use him as one (I'm using Lysander and a Master of the Forge I think), so he'll most likely end up being a sergeant.
He's not finished - I need to purchase a new pot of Boltgun Metal to do the metallics, and clean up the yellow somewhat alongside some other details but so far I'm pretty happy with him. Pictures aren't the best, I'll try and get some nicer ones in good lighting later.
To paint the yellow I did Iyanden Darksun -> Golden Yellow -> Gryphonne Sepia -> Golden Yellow + Skull White, any suggestions on improvements are appreciated
Working on 5 Tactical Marines now. Will post pictures once they're done, and more of the Commander once I do some more work on him!
I personally like the yellow, it's loooads better than any attempt I've ever made, lol
I like what you've done with the gamesday mini. I didn't like him IMO, mainly because of the head and facial features. I'm guessing it came as a separate component or did you grind it out?
Oh, and I'm guessing it's just the light, but dude, his hammer's GLOWING!
Can't wait to see more
The head and arms come separate, thankfully!
Heh, It's not glowing (yet), flash did something peculiar to it. I'll admit I thought the same, and almost looked to see if I had inadvertently done dynamic lighting! I'll get to inking it good, though.
i like your yellows, it's a bit more mustard yellow as opposed to the normal bright yellow! Good job!
Yellow is fun.
Get some extreme highights on there, mix up a bit of your yellow with some bleached bone, and job's a good 'un.
minus_t's painting log! Now with: More Wolves and Blue Robots!

It might almost be a lamenter paint scheme!
I like the lamenters, they're so emo.
Are you using a black or white undercoat? I'm using the same colour progression for my own Fists though mine seem a bit brighter than yours, and I'm wondering if it's just the undercoat that makes the difference.
