So, after taking a look at the new book, I've folded and given into Ultramarines. I just want an army that looks good painted, and the blue and gold does it for me. So, without further ado, here's my first veteran, I hope to have the first 4 done sometime in the next few days.
I've put about 6 hours I'd say into this one, watched both Ocean's 11 and 12 a football game as background noise so I guess that's about enough time:
What do y'all think so far? I'm going to have to go back and redo the Bolter casing, I'm not liking the highlighting on the black at all.
I've now got 5 more Vets, with 40 Tac Marines, 2 Assault Bikes, 2 Preads, and 2 Drop Pods arriving this week so watch this space as I hope to have the army done by Christmas.
Very neat! I like it.
Possibly another highlight on the blue armour might work, like a thin line of lighter blue should help to bring out the armour plating somewhat. Other than that I think it looks great and I sure can't wait to see more of your marines with enthusiasm!
I agree on both counts - the painting is very clean and sharp, but the blue looks a little flat. The white on the helmet and the lenses are very well done. You've got a really nice style and I think you're the first person here to paint up some new vets. Show us some more!
See, I realize the blue could use a bit more, I just really, really hate line highlighting. Unfortunately, it's the only way I know how to paint black...
I've just started the blue on the second vet, maybe I'll have him up tomorrow.
