Its looking great mate, I told you would enjoy doing the tanks!

How long has it taken you thus far? I've never really been happy with my drybrushing, hence why my DA tanks are line highlighted. I'm am looking to go back and redo my IG soon, and I do NOT want to have to go through that with them! Your efforts make me want to try drybrushing again...

Anyway, good work, there will be rep a plenty when you get it finished

It took me a few hours last night, but most of that was drying time between the 2 undercoat layers and 3 or 4 base coat layers. I had a lot of trouble getting the Regal Blue to not be streaky and patchy. Once I had that settled the drybrushing took me about 15 minutes.

I can't decide if I want to try line highlighting on the second Rhino or not - I guess I'll see how this one looks when it's all done and go from there.

I'm amazed at how quickly this all came together - I would have been doing tanks for years had I known!

I tried out a few basic weathering techniques on this. There is a little mud on the hull near the tracks (although it doesn't show up well in the photos) and I tried using a sponge for the paint chipping. The sponge thing didn't work out as well as I would have liked but I think it should go better next time.

The boys take their new ride for a spin:

Those tanks look great, I really like the Koldun?, I don't know what they are called really.

    Keep on posting...

the tank looks great, you pulled of the drybrushing very well. I think that the tank could use some more crimson fist iconography. The little tabard on the right door is awesome but I don't think it really makes it clear which chapter the tank is from. Add a couple of transfers and then it'll be one sweet ride.

Let me start off by saying that the chipping and mudding came out really well. I really like it from what I see in the pictures.

Then I'd like to share a tip. The metal tops of the exhaust pipes, I go over them first with a heavy drybrush of tin bitz and then a heavy drybrush of black leaving some of the tin bitz showing. The end result is that there is some metal down at the bottom, a band of tin bitz and the top is black. This gives it the impression of having been heated and sooted. I think it looks rather nice. Just a tip.

EDIT: It's not a good picture, but unfortunately I don't have a better one at hand. However you can see a hint of what it looks like on the nozzles of the plasma cannon and flamer.

Thanks. The three fellows with the beards are Greylords. This is the Koldun Lord and he'll see some paint after I get the other Rhino done.

Transfers still make me nervous but I think once I finish off the 1000 points I have I'll go back and give them a try. Also, since these were bought off ebay I didn't get a vehicle transfer sheet - once I buy a drop pod hopefully I can use some of the transfers from there on it.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give that a try on the next one.

hi dude, been looking through your WIP, pretty good stuff!

Your rhino looks good, can i suggest a few things since to make it look even better?!

    dirty the exhausts a little
the scroll things(not sure what you call them) they could look more worn
the front underside (near the skull/wing emblem) could have some dirt on that (as well as the back) and you could make the bottom of the emblem a bit dirty

I think that would look awesome in my opinion

Also your marines edge highlights could be more refined

    Apart from that, cracking job!

@maraschino - I tried to incorporate a few your your suggestions for this second Rhino. I used some black washes on the exhaust vents and the surrounding areas and tried to get a dirtier look on the parchment areas.

The chipping looks really bright in the photos but it isn't that bad. I did try to tone it down with some Devlan Mud after these photos were taken.

With that, I've finished my 1000 points for ToP!

As I said on the project thread, I can't believe you are done! I almost want to object!

Congrats on a really well painted army mate, and extra credit for finishing ahead of time! Whats next for the CF? I demand to see more...
