Tale of Painters, 2nd Company - 40k [October 15th Deadline]

In this thread members who signed up for this project will be required to post each month - on the 15th of the month the following items:

• A picture of 200pts worth of miniatures that they have painted for the month's challenge
• A picture of the entire army that they have painted thus far.

In addition, members are allowed to post any fluff or list that they have selected to use or comments which they decide to post. They are also allowed to have their own WIP blogs, but still must post the images in this thread.

Just a quick reminder, everyone - If you paint more than 200 points in a month, Kudos to ya. However, for the purposes of this project, please limit your monthly entries to as close to 200 points as you can muster, going a bit over in favor of being a bit under of course.

In the immortal words of Bon Jovi, "Ohhhhh we're halfway there! OhhhOOOHHHH livin' on a prayer!!!"
For those of you who don't know who Bon Jovi is, he's in the classics section... next to the Maalox and fiber.

And boy halfway feels good. Especially with all the inspiration of watching the first TOP come to an close. Here's my contribution for the month. A command squad and lascannon team.



First is my command squad of plasmatic perfection. The even though the persnickety power of plasma can empower or impede the personal progress of a platoon presenting pain upon the plains of battle, I like it. If ever there was a medic that earned his pay, it's this guy.



Then there's the big guns. Lascannons are a mandatory addition in apocalypse. I think they came out well, even if the spotter looks like Brian Bosworth (Seattle Seahawks -c'mon, I can't be the only old guy around here!) And I just realized that I didn't take a pic of 'em by themselves. I won't flood this page with individual pix, but you can get 'em (and more painful commentary) on my Guard page. Link below. I'm always lookin' for feedback.
And here's where I stand at the halfway mark. I'm diggin' it.

Well chaps - It's been a while and I haven't gotten on here much recently...

Alas have been made redundant, shoulder is better, so maybe more painting time, yay!!

Anyway here is my entry for this month...

Chapter Master Alannus Aloysius of the Iron Tigers with:

For a total of 185 points by my reckoning and according to the new codex. I shall be reviewing my original list at some point too...I've made a new 5th Ed Codex based one to try out so will be using that for the remainder of the project...On to the pics...am particularly proud of the cape - greenstuffed some fur on and tried my hand at blending the bone into orange...details of the parts I used will be in the wip thread....









And the group shot - a total of 549 points - my land raider is also finished, but I haven't got any pics, so as of next month I shall be back up to date following my accident :-)

First of all my special treat. These are the objectives that I made and used at Heat One of the UK GT.



This is the Summoned Greater Daemon I built and painted in less than an hour. Then again you can probably tell eh?





That's 100 points right there. The AC for the Raptors is another sixty.

I wanted to get this stuff up as soon as possible. I know I owe an army shot since last month but I am going to have to add that later. I can always send it to Cyric if the thread gets closed before I am done.

I really feel like they are starting to come together now.

One thing I did, painting wise, this month(s) is working on my faces. If you can see my new Sergeant above, I painted him first and while I think I did a pretty good face, he was way too dark for Raven Guard (we'll chalk it up to his years in hot sun training new scouts)...the rest of the scouts have a new paler flesh look which I like. I hope you all do too. I've got one more group of cc scouts to do, and then I really have to think about where I want to take things. The Shadow Captain lies primed on my other desk, and I know there will be one big tank as well. There are many other things I want to include, and I may go up to 2500-3000 points. I had some rather heroic Terminators in the second round of 'Ard Boyz who want in, as well as a Vindicator that had a huge shot at one point and now begs for a paint job. We shall see. Hope you all enjoyed it, I know I'm enjoying seeing all the other armies!

And look at all the people joining up for Tale of Painters next month...good Lord, should be a lot of new blood!
