I sure hope I can deliver, I have never done any freehanding before aside from the stripes. Jumping in over my head and seeing if I can swim is the best way I can think of to try it.
Gonna head to bed before I mess anything up from being tired. Little mini update. Added cherubs, worked on the linen and armor a bit. I decided to change her weapon to a flaming sword instead of a golden spear like on the codex cover. Swords on fire are too cool to pass up.
Does anyone know why chaos black covers oddly? This is something I noticed when painting my jetbikes. I don't know if it a new paint mix GW is using, or if it because of their new primer. Chaos black goes on flat sometimes and shiny other times. It ends up making it look all streaky. This didn't used to be an issue when I painted my SoBs (a little over a year ago for the most recent models).
That's right, not only two updates in a single week, but even two updates on the same day. I am sure this is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

whoo Nice work Core. That free hand Rhino should make a great addition to your awesome Sisters.
don't worry about the freehanding those multi colored chevrons on your Jetbikes are a lot harder then this
So keep up the great work man it's going to be a stunner.
The freehand is shaping up to be really epic. With regards to the black, are you painting Chaos Black on top of black primer? I don't think they're the same color, sort of similar shades of black. I've also noticed that different pots of paint can be a bit different from each other, maybe that's what the difference is?
Did a bunch of work on the armor. Not quite sure if I like it yet, especially the breast plate. That area is a problem because of the rhino door. I am going to go on to the skin and the wings and see how I like the armor later. I already know that I want to go back and change the linen, so before I get anything "perfect" I want to look at the piece as a whole and make decisions so they mesh.
It is really hard to take pictures of red without having it bleed and obscure the detail. I took well over 20 pictures just to get one that was decent.
AWESOME!!!I love how you did the red it's nice and subtile I like it that way. It seems you really put you hart and soul into it. It could use a little more contrast between the different pieces of armour but besides that it looks great!
The Linnen looks good but the really dark shadow line is to hard if you blend it a bit more it should look more even. But like you said you are going back to that anyways
good progress and should look stunnign when finished!
Man, it has been FOREVER since I posted anything. I had a long hiatus from all things gaming for quite some time, but I am back, and I come bearing pictures!
I have been working on these Raven Guard for a little while, and I am pretty happy with them overall. I especially had a lot of fun on that banner, and my relative success with freehanding on it has spurred me on to finish that rhino. I know I can do it now, and I had some doubts before. Unfortunately, it isn't on the top of my priority list at the moment. That honor goes to my Norse Bloodbowl team, because getting them all finished up means I get an extra 10,000 gold per match.

I don't know if he is the best of the wing, but it's an idea of what they are like. I now realize that I didn't get a good shot of the Champion's Shield, nuts.
I have worked on the rhino a tad while I have been gone, but a depressing loss of a bunch on miniatures sent me into a funk that was only lifted by painting up those marines. Next up is those Norse, followed by a conversion attempt and paint job on a jetbike farseer. After that, who knows.
