    Canadian AoBR Chapter (WIP)

I figured I'd compile all of my other posts and put them in a project file, here's the lot so far:

And on to the smaller squad pics and some background:

Back in September me and a friend eagerly jumped on the AoBR set buying two of them and splitting the orks and marines up. Being a smurf hater, I went with some paint pots I had a lot of, which turned out to be scab red. After a test model with white trim and some dark washes, my buddy said they looked like they were wearing Canadian colours, which isn't a stretch. So now, the Canadian Space Marine chapter is born, and a few banner works show the proud maple leaf!

I'll be doing various battle damage from cannon holes, bullet holes, and claw marks on the various models in the company, and trying my hand at some paint chipping and the like. A far cry from my clean-just-out-of-the-car-wash tau. Anyway, I hope someone has some interest in this, but if not, it will help motivate me and log my progress. Thanks for looking.

Edit: I also must add, that I am attempting to make this army a legitimate 1700+ points, without spending an arm and a leg on it. So, you will notice throughout, that many of the models are converted from AoBR models, or from snap fit models from other sources.
    The army currently contains:
    1 HQ Space marine
    1 Librarian
    1 Chaplain (WIP)
    5 Command Squad Marines
    40 Tactical Marines
    5 Assault Terminators
    5 Terminators
    5 Devistators (WIP)
    2 Dreadnaughts
    1 Whirlwind
This has cost me an estimated $160 Canadian so far.

For more detailed info on a model, just ask if you're interested.

Painted up the chaplain last night. He's made from the sergeant of a devastator squad I picked up. I can replace that guy with a snap fit marine. His rod is the eagle cut up from an AoBR captains armour, some termie cables and a plastic tube. Grabbed the pistol from a ravenwing master, and the death mask is attached to a marine helmet (crafted from a servitor?)

Looking good so far! I like the theme, though i'm sure the fluff-fiends will have their day with it. there's a guy around Ottawa that made an entire Mechanised infantry company of Canadian Cadian IG. He scratch built all the tanks to look like 40k equivalents of current canadian vehicles like tha lav and leopard battletanks.

I like the conversion work on a lot of your HQs are they all from AoBR or did you grab various bits in there as well?

While I'm a fan of reading the fluff, I'm not too concerned where my army fits in haha, it's not meant to please others fluff

As for the HQs, the captain is of course, stock, the Librarian is made with bits from the Master of the ravenwing set and the AoBR captain, and the Chaplain is a dev sergeant with only two bits from outside of that set.

A guy I know is also making an IG army from the Death Korps painted after the PPLI, mind you with the more WWII style equipment.

I finally got around to painting my sternguard's drop pod, and painted up 3 sternguard. I converted up a stergnuard sergeant (but ran out of basecoat).

This squad never ceases to amaze me, as drop them down with a heavy flamer, and a Librarian with the gaze of flame ability. They nuke whatever squad I want them to, it's great.

Wow..Original. I really appreciate this Canadian Chapter (obviously because I'm also a Canadian). I also really like the mounted captain, RCMP style. the painting looks cool as well, I wish there were larger pictures.

    +rep for you.

Sorry for the small pictures, they're imageshack links but LO messes with them and they don't enlarge right. I reposted links to all of them so you can view larger images.

Thanks for the compliments. The red is scab red with flesh wash put overtop to darken it up.

Sternguard: They're nothing special, I took snapfit marines and painted white helmets with laurels on them Once the 5man squad is done though I'll toss them up for you.

I've been painting some tau but this is the next thing on the block:

    Yet another scratch built titan!

    Cheers!

The fruits of my Christmas labour, finally finished a sternguard squad (yes theres 9, one is usually a random heavy weapon guy tossed in). Although now I think I'm going to start running a 5man team instead of 10, using 2 heavy flamers and 3 combimeltas in a drop pod. And I thought I was finally done with marine models
I also painted up 3 more heavy weapons guys (nothing exciting, not shown)

Now that these are done, hopefully no more large white areas for me to paint ever again haha
