Well at the moment i'm taking part in the Team Shroom Tale of Painters project where we are aiming to complete 2000pts by March I think it is. So far we are about halfway through.
Anyways the main reason for starting this is to ensure when the ToP finishes I continue with painting all the models i've got. Because obviously I can only paint the models for the list and that list doesn't include my 15 deathwing termies, i'd already painted my term chaplain so he couldn't be included in the ToP!!!!
I really hope this will keep me focused after the ToP, as I really want to get a land raider, ven dread for the deathwing and also make a model for Belial Master of the deathwing and would like to expand my Ravenwing too! But initially this little blog will be featuring my ToP entries but will eventually contain all my other Dark Angel stuff (got Master of the Ravenwing to do can;t wait to start that!!)
The ToP stuff already finished can be found by following this link:

Here's the pics of my Termie Chaplain that unfortunately couldn't be included in the ToP as i'd already painted him, the only thing i'm not 100% on is the highlighting of the black but other than that i'm quite happy with him! Let me know what you think.

Good to see ever more Dark Angels projects! And people said the new marine codex would kill us off!
Good work on the Termi Chaplin, especially your black highlighting - what is your method? I really really love that model, I'm going to have to buy it for myself soon...
Hope to see some more of your DA soon mate.
Ha, nobody is gonna kill off the 1st Legion!!
I've been a fan of Dark Angels for ages and have always said if I ever do a marine army it'd be them as i'm not really a fan of space marines but the DA fluff really appeals.
Also I totally agree, as soon as I saw the Terminator Chaplain model I was like, MUST BUY IT NOW!!
For highlighting the black it was basicallly foundation black wash (badab black) then fortress grey and codex grey for the highlights on the armour edges, nothing fancy just a layer of each. That's the part i'm not 100% happy with but overall I like the way the model turned out.
Well here is the first 5 marines from my squad, models done but still needs basing.
Done to decent gaming standard but v.little highlighting as I detest painting troops!!
C+C most welcome on a postcard!

Your DA are coming along well, I like the way you painted one of the marines heads with a white or bone colour ( i'm gonna have to steal that idea for my vets, if it's okay with you). the freehand is looking good too, especially the company badge on the kneepad, maybe you could bulk up the arrow on the shoulder pad it's looking a bit skinny. Other than that everything looks ace.

As all my Company veterans and vet sgts have robes they stand out anyways, it's just a nice way of individulising the army.
The freehand comments well taken, that's definitely an area I need to work on, and will endeavour to make it better next time!

Well it's been a quite WIP blog so far. But that's mainly due to me not bothering to finish my 10 marines (I only need to base them but I just can't be bothered!) and the metallics on my Vindicator. Fear not though I have not succumbed to the dreaded lazyitis, it's all down to my ToP thread. in this months list we can get bonus points for making objectives themed for our army.
So, I spent a load of time building this model out of mine and Scarreds (thanks for the banner!) bits box and then painting it! Anyways, like the title says,, I need a good name for this piece to do it justice, i'm not the greatest painter but really pleased with how it turned out and would like it to have a good name to be remembered for ever more!
Spent ages on it, so i'm dying to get everyones opinion/critique/suggestions for improvements, so let rip!
PS: will post some marine pics sometime next week when I get round to basing them!
It's me again, for some DA related support!
Unfortunately the pictures aren’t of the best quality, but here's what I think.
First off, I love the pose, its very dramatic and effective. The face and hair are also well painted, and the wounds on the chest really stand out. Its a very good job.
My only really criticisms are that the paint looks a little thick in areas (the shoulder pad for example) and that I can't really make it if you've highlighted the armour or not? That could just be the quality of the photo though...
My main question is did you freehand that banner yourself? If you did then wow, you have my respect mate. I wouldn't even begin to attempt something like that - and you've made a very decent job of it!
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more.
EDIT?PS: If your looking for a good name for your Standard Bearer I would suggest one of two methods. Either use him as the DA Chapter Standard Bearer: Brother Bethor, or do what I often do and make a name up. For inspiration for 'DA sounding' names I usually have a peek at this list.
Hope some of that helps...
Model is highlighted, again will get better pics to prove that statement!!!
Also the banner was my first real attempt at freehand painting and what a pain it was!!
EDIT - New pics as promised! I think it's the re-sizing that is making the paint look gritty and thick, will need some proper photo editing software methinks!

dude, that is some seriously nice freehand, i really like the pose of the model, are you going to put some transfers ( or freehand) for the chapter badge/ squad marking. Yeah, freehand is quite a pain, but you get sooo much satisfaction knowing you painted that with no guides. I'd say do some tanks with freehand like that all over it, it would be so awwwsumm!
