Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm fairly new to warhammer and have been playing exclusively 40k. Recently me and my mates decided we'll do some fantasy and as such, I've selected lizardmen to command!
I'm the kind of person who likes uniqueness and quite frankly, could not bring myself to paint my lizardmen blue. Especially coz I hate blue. So the original idea I had was to paint them orange, skinks red, stegs maroon. The day I went in to buy my codex I saw a lizardmen army painted using those exact colours...so
I've now gone with an albino colour scheme. Plain sarus will be a light grey with dark grey scales, shields will be a bone ciloured with green "veins."
I know there's fluff somewhere for albino lizardmen, something about them being rare and special/favoured. Bring forth the tide of the albino lizardmen!
I will be buying a single unit at a time, painting it, updating this, buying another one. Buying things outright has led to me having 2400pts of unpainted daemons that are likely to not get painted for quite a while.
Now here's a few questions I had for you proffessional painters!
1. What colour should my skinks be?
2. What cilour should be stegadons be?
I will update this a little later with pictures of my Scar Vet/Oldblood's shield arm!
Shoot guys, I wanna hear your opinions
EDIT: This will also be my first tim painting, so be mercyful!
there is no "should" when it comes to painting your own army!
Use whatever colours you like.
I would however take a look at the dipping method. Especially for skinks. But if you dip 1 unit, you have to dip the rest aswel, or it will look weird.

That's your first time painting? Looks pretty damn good to me!
Skink colours though, hmmm...perhaps a pale pink? Like an Axolotl kind of colour, as long as you avoid flesh tones it could look very sweet. I'd also suggest google image searching for "salamander", possibly with adjectives like "pale" or whatever you like, as that comes up with lots of nice natural colour patterns that will look great on skinks. Actually, you could also google image search "Skink" itself, the real lizard has some pretty cool colour schemes too! The blue-tongued skink, for example, might be a good match to your saurus.
Pale pink actually sounds like a great idea, I'd never even considered pink quite frankly.
Googling it has found some wicked results, so axolotl skinks it is!
I'll buy a box of skinks in the coming weeks and go nuts on em. Gotta get this Vet and his 16 saurus painted up.
I'm dying to paint the temple guard! They are simply the best looking model in the range! I was considering taking them as saurus warriors then realised I wouldn't have anything to make my slann's retinue stand out so plain crappy saurus with spears it is!
Visited GW tonight and bought myself some washes and some grey paints. Hopefully there will be evidence of me doing some skin and scales in this vet tonight
Thanks for the kind words
And yes, I have an obsidian bladed knife that I made, the thing is ridiculously sharp!
His body is coming along nicely, Needs a touch more dark grey and a few more highlights and all of its bling painted.
If I do this for each of my saurus it's gonna look wicked Hopefully I can stay focus that long.
Though I might wind up dipping them
And once again thanks for the kind words, the pink suggestion AND for finding the name of my Scar Veterans weapons
Looking good man!
I cant wait to see more pictures.
One tip tho; get a small camera tripod thing. Like really small, that costs only a couple of bucks.
That allows you to photograph with the timer (most cameras have one).
Read this article, it has helped me allot LINK!.

Here he is! Body is complete, arms are on and he's glued to a base. Much higher quality of photography thanks max!
Quite happy with how he turned out. First time painting and I'm just swinging paint on him and doing my best with it
Soon there will be a head to go onto his shoulders. Just gotta figure out the quirks about painting it and gotta make it look good
