Winged Nurgle Daemon Prince

The whole Nurgly/Death Guard thing has sunk it's hooks in me quite deeply. It's a great aesthetic, and I am enjoying painting and modeling it!

After study it's obvious that the Winged Daemon Prince with warptime is the big-ass hammer of the army, and I need two. So here is the first - a simple conversion, with the wings from the Tomb Kings Carrion bird added.









Before anybody chimes up, the GS will be smoothed and shaped, and other gaps filled, and the sword will be attached. These are just the first of the WIP photos. Enjoy!

Plans? Nothing solid. Ideas? Plenty...

An Renegade Ogryn conversion, from Forgeworld, the only problem being a lack of good place to add the wings.

The ogryn conversion sounds good, maybe he could have a jet pack of some sort, maybe a large turbine strapped to his back?

If I wanted to throw an enormous amount of money at the problem, I would get the Forgeworld Renegade Ogryn with the drill and the Nurgle Blight Drone, and attach the flying bitz from the drone to the Ogryn, and call it done.

It would cost a small fortune, and I would be very weary doing it, as without seeing both the models I have no idea if the scale of the pieces would look good.

However, it would probably look incredible!!

Nice, using those TK wings on the prince, suits him, and them being slightly too small fits him even more!

One thing though; the greenstuff joint 'tween body and wing is a bit too smooth, it could use some texture, deseased skin or some feathers.

As to the weapon arm, any ideas what you're gonna put there?

A cheap(er) option is the good ol' nightbringer. I saw a great nurgle DP in a white dwarf a year or two back. Just add some wings (I was thinking those TK ones) and a trail of rot in his wake (60mm base) and cut up the cloak, and wahla! (did I spell that right)

I am currently trying to paint my extremely converted Daemon Prince that I made out of a lord of the rings cave troll. I think he will look really cool once he is done. I took the troll from the starter pack and cut off the chain that he had around his neck. Then, with that free hand I attached a shield. The sheild has a decaying body on it and is made of metal plates. The other hand was cut off and then had a mucus gun attached to it. There are tubes that lead from a container of grossness into the gun and the body. I also have a head that I took from a D&D model. I hope this might give you some inspiration for your second and tell you that it is really easy and cheap to make something nurgly. Good Luck!

I wasn't expecting to make a purchase so soon but, today I made a trip to the Local game store that has tons of stock. After looking around for awhile, I decided on one of the 'normal' Daemon Princes with the Carrion wings.

A couple of cool things -

The Carrion model has more than one variety of wings. I didn't realize this until I took a close look at the blister...

The original DP model is really fantastic - I built mine a long time ago, and it is still one of my favorite chaos models.

My Nurgle/Death Guard 'look' is tending away from the very gooey, gloopy, pus-filled, bloated look, and more like a group of marines who have recently jumped over to the chaos side. (We have cookies) A tougher, meaner look. I think that a mild conversion of the original DP model will give me what I am after. Plus, with the carrion wings, it will keep a common thread between the 2 Princes, and make the whole look more cohesive.

Who knows -- I may do some wild conversion of something in the future, but I am happy now with the 2 Princes, especially because I was able to get all the pieces at one store!
