Welcome to (likely) the only Empire log in Tale of Painters!! I know that Empire is not everyone's idea of an exciting army, so I thought I would make it my mission to get people more interested by painting up a fun and a bit different army. I figure I'm probably not going to win any of the competitions since nobody gets really excited by Empire, so I'll do my best to make them interesting and maybe get some new followers once they believe that I actually do enjoy painting each one of these little men (hey, people play guard right?)
I noticed the thread is getting a bit long, what with all the pictures, so I'm going to set up an index:

First post for the Tale o Painters, starting up Friday. Just putting down an army list and showing the starting state of my first units (s) to be painted.

First, a bit about me: I'm 20, live in Calgary Canada and despite collecting and painting many thousands of points of various armies over the years, I've never played a game of Warhammer. I like to try all new styles of painting and I take pride in my conversions and unit ranking-ups. Now I'm finally putting together an Empire army for tourneys and games, which will actually ring in at about 2500 pts in the end, but for the sake of the comp, I'll be making a modified 2000 pt list. It will consist mainly of knights and cannons, being the guard of the infamous Helmsgart fortress and bolstered by Kurt Helborg's Reiksguard.

Here's the list for what I hope to work on each month...I tried to keep it at around 200 a month but at the end it's just not possible with ol' Kurty being worth almost two month's value. The later months look a bit boring and stretched out, so I was thinking I might do the unthinkable and enter another army. We'll see how that pans out.

It'd be best to upload your picture(s) to a website such as Photobucket and use the [img] tags to post it here.

I don't think that you can post pictures that are stored on your computer, you're going to need to store them somewhere online. I've been using photobucket for years without any problems. Just go there, register, upload your photos, and then post them using the address photobucket assigns them.

That unit looks really good and your army sounds really cool. Everything would be awesome, except you unfortunately live in Calgary (I live in Edmonton ).

Red, white and blue huh? Can't say I can complain.

My dad and I did a similar scheme about 7-8 years ago, way back in the boxed set prior to the Skull Pass set, with Empire vs. Orcs. The colours look pretty good together.

Will this unit be your first entry, or do you have some other models to go for the month, too? Remember the first deadline isn't until September 14th!
