I stopped painting about 12 years ago, after many hours of practice I'd gotta to a stage of being quite reasonable ( not golden demon or anything but certainly happy to show my models off). i've recently come back to the hobby and find myself frustratingly incapale so much so that not 1 model i paint i'm satisfied with and never fully complete much of any models. When i saw the tail of painters I thought it was an ideal opportunity to get some painting practice and the deadlines will really help me to persevere and continue to practice. So please not too harsh with your comments, I know they are not very good and i WISH i could do better
So ... this is my first attempt at posting a picture on anything like this... so first stage is lets hope there is a picture to comment on. All i have completed is the blue power armour but i wanted to attempt a picture too see how it comes out (if at all)
The black reach captain is here as well I wont be including him in my TOP, He's just included for a bit of colour more than anything

Edit:- I guess its fair to say that didnt work
Looking forward to seeing this progress.
Black Templar (W/D/L): 4/6/2
Dark Eldar (W/D/L): 4/1/0
Warriors of Chaos (W/D/L): 3/0/1
My 9 standard tacticals inc flamer and ML fully painted (except the base) will try to sort out a piccy.
My seargent is assembled and undercoated, now i just need to get some colour on the man.
My rhino is now repaired and .... .... .... blue
will try to post a piccy of the tac's tomorrow when i have daylight
So the update as promised, i know i wont be winning any prizes, but i'm happy with them so thats enough eh?
this is this months TOP progress so far... my 10 man tactical is all finished (170 pts) and 35 left to go with the rhino, the AOBR captain is there cos its my only other painted ultramarine model and he's standing in until next month when my chaplain joins the ranks.
a close up of my tactical squad
I've created an account on flickr and have my images hosted there.. does anybody know why i cant see the images on my blog until the day after i post them?

On a side note, i'm getting my eyes tested this later this week ( something i've been putting off for years) that way i might even actually be able to see where the tip of my brush is touching the model. and might be able to see details like eyes and such..... hopefully that will provide a good deal of improvement
comments on my models are welcome, remember to be gentle thou, i know i'm not very good
I cant get my camera to focus any closer than that. we got a new camera today but havent finished charging the battery yet so that might help.
To be honest, my models dont hold up at all when taken close up, and given all the other posts in this area are full of jaw dropping models that make me wanna cry, i might not post anything closer than that anyways
On the bright side my wife thinks they look good
I really like that blue, it looks good so far!
Have you tried using the 'Macro' setting on your camera? The button to turn it on looks like a flower.
As to everyone having well painted models, believe me, we all started somewhere. I still have my first Ultramarines in a case and the difference is night and day. Posting up pictures and getting feedback is what helped me (and continues to help ma) improve as a painter.
