Hey guys, thanks for all the comments and feedback. Don't you worry, i'll be weathering up that trukk real good. I've had a look at a few techniques for this and saw a really nice way to do it in the 'How to paint Citadel Tanks' book. It's got some pretty good stuff in there.

The technique involves simply drybrushing the underside and it looks really good. I've seen it done on another trukk. The yellow will get the same treatment as my other models. Chips and dings with the dark flesh+ boltgun metal.

The yellow is nearly done so expect updates soon.

@Thanks mate, I've seen panzers tutorial and it's a very good one. Might try them out. I'm thinking of investing in the FW weathering powders aswell. I think they're pretty much the same as the MIG pigments? Correct me if i'm wrong.

@DDW
Snagrot is getting nearer to the painting stage but he's not quite there yet. Sorting out all the little details at the moment. His banner is securely mounted with the help of greenstuff and brass rod.

Cheers guys

Hi mate.
The FW pigments arn't bad but I would recomend MIG. They have a better diversity i.e. several tones of rust, dirt etc. This gives you a much more real feel. I think MIGs work out cheaper too.

I think you are right. MIG claim to have the finest pigment available..but that is probably Jam and Eggs on toast. Because the powders are from forge world does that mean you have to order them from UK? MIG would be better cause i believe there are a few stockists in NZ, there are planty in Australia.

Good luck with the weathering.

The mig pigments are a great weathering tool. I would also suggest using sponges and oil paints. Both oil paints and pigments are super high in pigmentation, so you only need a small amount to tinit the surface colours.

Ive got a couple of tutorials in the completed tutorial section that uses them. PM if you have any questions.

Hey, how could I have missed this thread?
Awesome stuff Sknight567!! Here are some random comments about your models:

Warboss - nice conversion, I can't wait to see it painted... I would just remove the mold line from the Klaw and reposition the "toes" on the left foot (the one which is raised) because it looks a little too static to me. Maybe you can add some WH40K trophies to the banner. Otherwise, good work.

Boyz - the weathering on the metals is awesome, I humbly request for a tutorial about weathering. I like the yellow a lot... since my next army will be an Imperial Fist one, what is your recipe?
The chips on the yellow paint are very good, but maybe you used a little too much white... IMO for a "trompe-l'śil" effect, the white line should be just on the side opposite to the light source.

Trukk - the metals are great, and the super-sharp highlights on the metal are awesome... I will probably steal the idea. Great weathering as well!

Thank you for sharing, really inspirational. Rep is well deserved!

Yo mateys, no pics yet, i'll have them up later today. This dial-up is making it
a nightmare to upload pics.

I've finished the yellow on the trukk so it's pretty much done bar the crew and the main weathering.

Also did some work on the warboss last night. Wired up all the big joints that had gaps in it. It was a real pain in the rear to do that, the arms also have a bit more armour on the underside in the form of riveted plasticard. Now it looks like he's got some serious power going to those arms.

@FlayedOne, Dwayne and Danjones

Cheers for the help guys, i'll have a look around for the MIG pigments. They look really good and so many people swear by them. I'll check out your tutorials too Dan. Haha,

I'm still laughing about the Jam and Eggs on toast. It's so random!

@Mayor Quimby

Cheers mate, i'm still busy scraping off all the mould lines i've missed. That model is so busy that i'm having a hard time locating them all. Not sure what you mean by repositioning the 'toes' on the left foot? It's a killa kan foot by the way. I'll be adding so more wires to it eventually. I've added some glyphs to his banner so it looks all 40k'd up now.

I got the idea or the weathering from the warboss masterclass in the White Dwarf. I slightly changed it.

Heres how I do it:
*4:1 Skull White: Golden Yellow
*Dark Flesh
*Boltgun
*Chainmail

And the yellow.

Iyanden Darksun Basecoat
Devlan Mud Wash in recesses
Gryphionne Sepia all over wash
Golden Yellow (this is the main colour so leave only the recesses with the previous colours)
2:1 Golden Yellow: Skull White
1:1 Golden Yellow: Skull White
All Over Gryphionne Sepia Wash

Seems like alot but the washes take no time at all + they're really fun to do.

About the white and chipping, yeah I thought I used a bit more white than I should have. Thsi technique is quite odd though because it seems like a mix between 3D weathering and the artificial weathering. The "trompe-l'œil". When I do the articifial weathering it doesn't usually use metallics right? Correct me if i'm wrong.
And the 3D weathering is a more straightforward way of doing the weathering.

Cheers guys, will have pics up soon.
