It is now time for the commencement of my new tide of darkness: Vampire Counts.
Being a longtime WoW player and recovering addict, there was one faucet of the game that I always loved: The Lich King and the Scourge. I love the idea how one guy can go in, corrupt thousands of beings and turn them into a shambling horde of nasties that kill everything in its wake. With that in mind I've decided to go to the "bad side" of the Warhammer world, shelving my noble High Elves and delving myself deep into the sinister ways of the undead and vampires.
Here's the inspiration for my army:
I plan on having force that is combat orientated but also good at magic. I see myself with a ton of undead fighting units in "Old Kingdom" gear as they once had when they were alive and fighting the baddies themselves.
I will base them in snow/barren wastelands.
So far, I've only picked up a box of 10 Skeleton warriors just to get a general feel of what the units look like. I'm still trying to decide exactly what physical models will be part of my army, but I am finding unique non-GW pieces that will help accentuate and make my army very unique for future play.
This will be an on-going project and I am new to Vampire Counts so if anyone has any comments or criticisms, please let me know. I can't wait to field my first Vampire Counts army!

Oy! Sounds great. What color-scheme are you planning on? Hopefully a sick green, for true scourge from Warcraft style I'll be keeping an eye on this.
"Scream your lungs out!"
Manorr Stormbreaker, the Silent - Lord of Khorne
The flesh tones will be a pallid green color, but everything will have a blue/purplish overtone to them so that it reflects a darker, colder environment. It's something I've never really done before since a lot of my works have been in warmer colors, so I'll be working on the opposite side of the spectrum this time.
Here goes nothing!
sounds like fun, welcome to the dark side =D, though i dont play much im starting to gear up for painting my skaven swarm.
cant wait to see some pictures!
*Cackle* Yes, it shall be fun! Now I just need to know where I can find a big, undead dragon. Otherwise I'm looking at just getting a High Elf dragon and converting the bugger heavily. I think it should be fun!
Well I've been doing some searching around for some minis that will help setup the look and feel of my army in the way I want it.
I have two options, as I feel, for a general (acting as my Vampire Lord):
Ethereal type of Lich King:
CoolMiniOrNot Store > CMON Contest 16 - Lich King from Mad Puppet Miniatures (Limited Edition)
or more of the Arthas look-alike:
CoolMiniOrNot Store > Beelphegor, The Soul Reaper (32mm)
I think I may side for the "Lich King" itself since it's more ethereal and generally more evil looking.
For a necromancer, I found this guy:
CoolMiniOrNot Store > Driatram, Undead warrior
I love the look of him! He's incredibly evil looking.
That's all for now. I'm still keeping my eyes out for different models, but it's a start I guess. I'm still down for the count since I'm recovering from a kidney stone so I'm just looking around at different minis while I recoup.
Man, that is a tough choice. Beelphegor looks just like Arthas and is just a pale fleshtone away vampirism, but that lich king has so much character. You could field it as a wight king, maybe?
That necromancer type looks incredible (and leprous, even the horns have bits fallen off).
I can't wait to see what you're going to do them. *Subscribed*
Id go with the second one because it actually looks like Arthas and would give a better feel of being the Scourge though as said you could use the other one as a wight king.
Capital ideas! Why not just use them all! I can easily get the Lich King and the Undead warrior guy, but finding the Arthas look-alike in stock will be a bit tougher. Hm... I'll have to look around.
BRILIANT! nothing like a whightlord and a vampire =D
also the necro model is hawt!
