Been thinking about what army I wanted to start after my dwarfs for a few months while my birthday is coming closer ( 18th birthday, good time to ask for a bigger present :-) ) I finally decided on lizardmen, and I've already playtested a little list of 10 skinks, 5 chameleons, 5 cold one cav, 2x 15 saurus, a scar vet. and a skink priest. The cold cav was wiped out in turn two before even landing a single blow ( stupid high elf chariots ) so I've dropped those, too much of a leap from dwarfs. So in that game I was basically playing with the same list without the cav, but still did pretty well with what I had ( did 6 poisoned wounds on his 2 chariots ) .
After the test I changed the list. Dropped the cav obviously. I changed one block of 15 saurus to 15 templeguard, the other saurus unit to 20 saurus. I added 10 skinks, and made my priest lvl 2. So it'll propably be more effective than last time.
The shiny box seduced me to buy it and I bought the colours I needed. Hawk turquoise, goblin green and thraka green wash. Started with the first 10 templeguard.
I like skin of the guard, It looks very aqueous and swampy.
The scales are slightly too bright for my taste but thats in the eye of the beholder, Rep for you!
Traitor. Where's the beards?
He looks nice dude, the two colours are different enough to make it noticeable. I like it. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.
Now, if only I could get around to painting my bloody dwarfs...
Well, .. he's got like a, uh.. thingy, on his chin.. does that count?
And I've nearly finished my dwarfs. 5 great weapon dwarfs to do and need to buy a lord and master engineer, and fill up a few points with runes and such, maybe another bolt thrower ( nightmare to paint in NMM ) , and then I've got 2000 done. How about you, my king >:-D ?
time to assemble some more templeguard :-)
I like the lizards, the saurus are just like dwarfs, they don't break that fast ( cold blooded for the win ) , have T4, a good armoursave, but they can get a ludicrous amount of str 4 attacks. I've got 1 block of 20 saurus with spears. Thats 21 str 4 attacks! Die elgi!
And the skinks and chameleons give me a lot of manouvreability for the first time.
I really like the contrast of the colour of the scales on the skin. Plus it still looks "natural".

Worked on the first templeguard. DOne the bony stuff and the straps of his armour.
I really don't know what colour I should do on the shield. It should fit in with the green and turquoise, but not be yet another green colour, otherwise my 3 primary colours are greenish. Rep for good idea's. I was thinking about either a brown-orangy colour or kommando khaki or a brown colour - catachan green mix.
Anyway, progress here:
Does that tortoise really have a wheel for a leg? cool, servitor tortoises for all!
Back on topic... Nice painting there, now im glad you didn't listen to my advice and chose temple guard anyway
I can't wait to see the rest of your stuff
