Looks awesome, as usual. Where else are you gonna put the spiderwebs? At the moment, it looks like he's just inspecting the web. He's been dead for years, and he wakes up like "hmm, what are these sticky white strings of silk? Is that a spider? I've never seen these before" Or because his lip is curled back, he almost has a disgusted "eww gross" look while he's staring at it. Are you going to put some on his sword too, maybe then it would look like he's been dead for a long time and is stepping out of all the cobwebs and dust that settled on him.
Look, you're the master here - I was surprised you took my suggestion for his eyes. Don't listen to me - if I could paint half as well as you could, I'd still be in no position to give you advice!

I am not offering any comments regarding the Banner of the World Dragon at this time. For my thoughts on the situation, please refer to the following scene from vintage film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYiv76qRCkA

Haha, thanks! No, the advice was great!! I wish I could show off the eyes in greater detail as I went for the bloodshot look you suggested. Thanks for that!

The sword has some webbing on it already, it's very fine, but I might add some more on there. I'm trying to find the right balance of web and such.

Yes, I am going for the look of angry shock with him being reanimated and such. Glad to hear that I'm pulling it off!

    Good evening ladies and gents,

With my Abyssal Warlord nearly complete, I've moved my attention to a different subject that I'm considering entering in the same contest. The contest which I've painted the Warlord for has multiple categories. I'm sure I could fit this lovely woman of the cloth into the "Disturbing" category. It's a bit of a personal joke for me as I actually attended a Catholic school that was headed by a priest and nuns.

Thanks to Scott P. for the the lovely title name I'm using for this piece.

    I give you "Twisted Sister":

The whites are in a yellow cream for the time being, but will be worked up to a more of a bleached titanium look. I want the whites of her cowl and such to have some depth and subtle grime to the white. She's missing her arm that is holding a crunchy snack: a human hand.

It's the first bust I have ever done so I'm taking some baby steps on this one.

    As always, C&C is appreciated.

    All the best,

    Jake

Aaaand... thank you for the night-terrors. Jerk.

But seriously, good work as usual. You gonna work a little more red into the bruising? I love how the only reason that I can scrape together a critique is some morbid understanding of what decay looks like

Haha, thanks . Actually I'm only on the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her skin. I've only started tonight so I'm planning on really working the skin to make it look right. It feels like the more models I do, the faster I get at them!

    All the best,

    Jake

Really not my cup of tea that model Redarmy.

Looking forward to see what you do with it though. I have never painted a bust before and this one has great scope for a duality type piece. It actually reminds me of a kitten I saw once, it looked so cute and I bent down to pat it and its the other side of its face had been mutilated by a dog or another cat or something. It scared me so badly at the time.

Great work on the Warlord by the way if I haven't already said that.
    Cheers Allonairre

Thanks for the feedback guys! The warlord will be done here shortly

This model normally really isn't my thing, but it's incredibly different and will force me to try new things. It's growing on me .

Anyways, I made some further progress on the sister tonight!

I went to town doing the detail work like the pupils and such. I also brought some more white in the areas around her head so I could gauge the overall tone.

As always, C&C is appreciated especially as this is my very first bust!

    All the best,

    Jake

Well I've been swamped at work lately but made some more progress. I added a bit more blue to the flesh to get the skin to look a bit more lifeless.

Also got her fitted for a plinth as well. I'll be painting the rod black.

    As always C&C is appreciated.

Final stretch on the nun now. Just need to finish up the hand and paint the rod.

After a crazy few weeks at both of my jobs and crazy family events taking place, I managed to finish my two recent pieces!

    Twisted Sister:

And the Abyssal Warlord, whom I had the pleasure painting for an aspiring gamer/ artist as a present!

Both were incredibly fun to paint and both were steps towards improvement on my part in regards to trying new techniques.

    As always, C&C is appreciated!

    All the best,

    Jake
