Welcome to Librarium Online!
This log is for my Urban War minis currently, I have two armies to paint, Triads and Viridians.
If I remember right they should be the same points in total, I'll get the lists up later.
Here's some pictures to tide you over before I get painting (paints etc under a pile of stuff in my room).
My purchase today, a Gale Force 9 Pinning Set. Really good quality and nice to use.
Now, the Triads.
Kabuki Doll (left) and Triad Boss (right)
And finally, Sumo Bodyguard, was missing his original weapon so a Chaos warrior axe will do
Needing to decide on the scheme for these, maybe rich reds and blues overall. Suggestions?
Heavy Weapon Team
Troops and Heavy Gunner
Probably will go with the green on the sniper as it is the official scheme.
On another note, I am looking at buying a 35 point army of Cygnar which would consist of:
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages
- - Defender
And then to expand to 50pts I'll get:
- Unit Attachment
Gonna play the list on the Vassal Warmachine Mod first and see how it goes
I'll get painting tommorrow I think.
Really not happy with the the first model in this update, skin needs a lot of work. More layering I think, need to buy some more flesh paint soon. Any tips?
Second model is the Triad Boss, really happy so far, a nice rich purple came out well.
Thanks for viewing this, and tell me what you think, tips etc are great.
What kind of look are you going for with the skin of the first model? I've recently been trying out Bleached Bone for painting skin, and it seems to be working alright. You can darken the Bleached Bone with Snakebite Leather for a more tanned look, too.
The purple does look good, though. I'm wondering if you could go a little darker in some of the recesses, but it looks alright as is.
Was going for a more paler slightly green tinted skin, didn't water the green down enough and screwed it up. Might have a try at mixing Elf Flesh and a tiny bit of Goblin Green?
Maybe chuck a nice wash in there, just Tamiya Smoke to darken the recesses.
I've always liked the Triad models for this game, so I'm excited to see some around here. It's also always good to see more Warmachine models, so hopefully you put some pictures of them up too.
I'm not really sure what you're going for on the skin there. If you're looking for pale skin with a green tint, I'd try a pale flesh color (Elf Flesh maybe) and then wash it with a green. The skin color you're using now looks good, except I'd say you stopped two or three layers too soon of a good covering. Get a solid base coat down first and then do the wash with the green. I'd go with a very, very thin green. Go overboard with the water - you can always add more layers of the wash if it's too thin.
Yeah, that was the issue I had, the green wash wasn't thin enough, thought it was, going back over the skin as we as I send this.
I'm just waiting on the store to sort itself out and get some models I want in before I order.
