hey guys, Welcome to my Crimson Fist project log.
Got to say this has been a long time coming, as the university year is wrapping up! and I'm getting ready for my summer holidays... I've decided to start a crimson fist army.
I wanted to do a space marine army because I love the models and personally think my painting skills have improved ten fold since visiting this site. So i guess this is my homage to you guys!
I've used tutorials from this website, and credit where credit is due!
Pictures to come in a few minutes. Lets keep this going guys
So my first thank you is to Minus T.
More directly for his help with various painting over the years but mainly for his tutorial on making your own chapter badges on the cheap.
After trying for about 3 hours to make one i was happy with I managed to make one that I was happy with.
This is what I came up with:
and thus It comes out like this on my minis
Pretty snazzy huh? Its a real penny pincher for any of us who want a professional looking Space Marine Army on the cheap.
Heres a link to that brilliant Tutorial:
Now heres what I have thus far:
5 Space Marines.
Now I have been enjoying these guys alot! what do you guys think?
Also, excuse my poor photography. But if MrDee can start taking decent pics then anyone could do it.
What do you guys think?
Next on the cards will be another 5 space marines, maybe an army list! actually, we'll just see where the wind takes us shall we?
Hey TB its been ages!.
Hope uni's going well for you and Good start with your crimson fists and The company shoulder pads are great. Should check out GW site they have stuff for crimson fists parts.
You gonna to LO meeting this year to?.
Anyways great work and Rep for you mate.
Im really impressed with how well that stamp came out, its really good!
I like your marines, they are a solid start to the army. There are a few basic things, like drilling out barrels and putting script on all the purity seals, but they are only small niggles. What can we look forward to in this army?
I'm hoping to get to the LO meet this year after missing out to familial issues last year!
I'll be posting a List in a while, As I've run headlong into painting.
I'm trying to keep the Army remotely Fluffy with the potential to be good at the same time, I think I've reached a good balance.
I forgot to post pictures of the other shoulder pad, where I have also made a stamp, this time of a tactical sign. That'll come later.
Also, its my birthday! TODAY!
I'm liking them. The stamp looks great and a better way of getting an even and identical icon on them all. I would suggest doing a larger one for vehicles, unless you intend to go all FW on us. Are to planning to make them battle worn or skipping the look?
Nice one. I like the marines so far, whats next?
When will you be down at allenton for DWS? I was there last night laying down the pain with my half built Dark Elves.
We all know Mr Dee isnt so bright when it comes to pictures.
You will eat those words Dan!
Just noticed two things Tib I didn't pick up on before, 1. you haven't drilled the barrels on the guns. 2. you have left mouldlines on the heads you blinking heathen! Now this really detracts from what are otherwise some really nice looking Crimson Fists pal, why would you do that...it makes me sad, so very very sad. Barrel issue is easy to resolve, mould lines not so easy as they are painted.
ow crud. Thats what happens when your an excited schoolboy and start painting like a maniac. At least i'll be able to remove them on the next unit I'm painting. I've been converting a Command squad out of bits I had lieing around from the golden days. I wish I hadn't sprayed them already to show you how dire my painting was back then...
Anywho, I've been storming along and have built most/if not all of my armour for the army.
I'm afraid I have gone all "forgeworld" on you guys and purchased some of the crimson fist doors. And I have the Tank Kit from GW on it's way as well.
I'm trying to keep the army relatively fluffy with regards to the fact it's a second founding. So my HS is going to be 2 Vindi's and a Pred. I know people usually condemn the vindicator for it's short range. But it fits in with the fact that the Imperial Fists are Siege experts and that the Crimson Fists follow the Astartes to the letter.
When it comes too getting to DWS it will hopefully be sometime in the forseeable future. But I am also helping out with a club that is just starting up in Derby, called Artillery Wargames Club, situated in West Hallam. Had our first meet last Saturday! went well
The battle worn effect may be a bit much, but i really want to try it, I've got a few marines left over so I might do a test run on it, see how it comes out.
