Welcome to Librarium Online!
Here are a few pics of some guardians and a warlock I've finished so far. My goal is to have an army completely painted to a nice table top standard. I really enjoy the painting when I get around to putting brush to figures even though I seem to be extremely slow.
So here is where I am as of yesterday and could use some help:
I decided to paint some aspect warriors and give striking scorpions a try. I love the classic colors of the aspect warriors but want to tie them in with my Ulthwe guardians. So I'm trying to stick with a darker green and add bone/blacks as accents and maybe reds if it doesn't look like a Christmas tree. As of now, the brown based areas are the foundation for the wraithbone and the dark green I want to bring up to something brighter on the major plates/areas but not crazy bright neon green. I'd like these guys to be a little understated and not super over the top radioactive green.
I really am struggling where to place some of these colors. A second lighter green on the armor? Black armor plates anywhere? Gold/bronze accents? The predator-hair? Heck even the gun and chainsword colors if you have ideas.
If you have ANY suggestion about what you think might work I'd love to hear it. Here is what I have tried so far on the test fig but was wondering where you think some of the other colors should be used to make them stand out. I'm looking forward to doing a unit of these guys once I get how I want them to look sorted out.
Would love some painterly feedback. Gracias people!
I've gotta say, those guardians and the warlock look pretty great! The highlighting on the black armour seems really well done.
As for the scorpion, maybe work in some snot green highlights with maybe a small amount of camo green, might keep it from being too bright. If it is looking to bright you can always give a wash of badab black to dull things down.
For the bone areas a similar colour to that on the shruiken catapults would give a cohesive look.
Hope my input has helped somewhat and again, painting looks great so far!
Honey badger don't care.
Very nice bunch of eldar you've got yourself there. The gaudians are pretty decient! I like how you've mixed up the coloursof the helmets. Now onto the warlock. His highlights on some of the black areas could be a bit smoother. But I must say, the NMM on his sword is one of the best I've seen for quite a while. When I painted my aspect warriors, I painted them with my craftworld colours, but painted the helmets and shoulders the aspect colour. Kneepads might work too. I'd keep the gold parts on him cuz I love the look of nmm gold. As for the weapons, just paint them the same colour as the gaurdians'. Feel free to dismiss any of that.
Cheers and a rep to get you started!
I love the way your Guardians look. Especially the red gems are really nice. For the Striking Scorpion I suggest you give it some highlighting with snot green. If it looks a bit too bright for your taste after you've painted it on you can "soften" it by (carefully) applying small amount of ink on top. Also, if you want the scorpion to look more in-line with your guardinas paint his weapons with same light brownish color and give him a red gem or two.

I agree with the others, the guardians are awesome as with the warlock. The scorpion definatly needs some highlighting, but not too much, I like the duller green you have gone with. The base is good as well, I'm liking the building up and angles. what did you use? (its simple but effective..) The only problem that I see so far is that you have gone for girly goody two shoes CWE! DE all the way! ahem sorry, back to the painting....
Can't wait to see more, looks great so far.
An excellent start. Scorpion need some more highlightning...and one guardian need his face and hair done
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
Thanks for all the kind words and help.
Well, barely put any paint on the scorpion, but a little. Was just finishing up a handful of new guardians and the face/hair on the helmetless eldar. Probably some touchups to do that I missed that others will see but I'll get around to them.
@barnacle111 - Just waiting to see what the DE models will look like, and if my harlequins will fit in with them I'm definitely going to have to start saving for a few new boxes of plastic.
Group shot. Need to finish the heavy weapon platform and get it in with them but not sure what to fill up all the flat areas with.
Really liking the bases. How have you done them? Scorched - Graveyard - Bone?
Looking good though!.........For Space Elves. Gems are really nicely well done and stand out nicely with the Black and Bone. I still think that Eldar head looks a bit like Alan Partrigde.
