Welcome to Librarium Online!
After starting a thread in the scenery section on my terrain I am currently working on, link
http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...rain-blog.html , I have decided to also do one for the other modelling and painting projects that are covering my desk at the moment. I intend to include both modelling and painting notes as well as any asides about fluff or ideas behind the items as well.
The main projects I have been working on is the expansion of my Tomb Kings Army from Tale of Painters, working on a (small) detachment of the 3rd Armegeddon super heavy regiment and starting a beastmen force.
Here is a photo of home my tomb kings ended up at the end of the tale of painters
Since then I have been working to expand the army to around 4000 points and includes a number of conversions and new units. The army is designed so that I can have several different armies for use in tournaments. The main basis behind them is an army of either Tomb Queen Khalida or Tomb King Phar and being able to switch between the two.
I will take photos of current progress and get these online over the weekend.
Out of time on my break at work now so will post more details later.
Looks good although I would personally make the movement trays like the bases, those grey movement trays stand out. Other than that looks good can't wait to see what you add next.
Look very nice to me, always liked the undead most in warhammer fantasy. Thanks for posting them.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
Okay the above shots were the army as at the end of the tale of painters contest.
This is as the army currently stands
All in all I think it is about 4000 points if fielded legally
As for what is in the picture accross the back we have 3 ushabti, my bone giant conversion, 3 light chariots (for Khalidas army) and the Jackel Squadron (a unit of elite chariots that were the principal defenders of Marhat, King Phars city). The second row from the back has a 30 strong block of archers, a unit of light cavalry, a 16 strong unit of archers. The second row from the front has skeleton warriors with shields (occasionally used as tomb guard), skeleton warriors with shield and spear and two tomb scorpions. Fornt row is icon bearer on chariot, liche priest mounted on camel, liche priest on foot, objectives, tomb prince, casket of souls, Khalida, Tomb king phar. Accross the very front is wound counters for my unit of chariots.
Here is another picture of my tombking on chariot. The king is a conversion of one of the metal tomb kings which uses several chaos maruader flails as the basis of the Flail of Skulls magic weapon he uses. In the army book story he adds a orc skull to the flail so I have included this. The horses bear the top of tomb king shields as "barding" as per the image of tomb king Phar also in the book.
Here is my wound counters for the non character chariots. These are made from various spare chariot bits I have in my bits box. The mostly intact chariots represent those chariots with two wounds, while the skeleton being dragged on the chariot yoke is for when the chariots get down to one wound.
Second tomb scorpion that was not painted as part of tale of painters. I have tried to differentiate it from my other scorpion by adding a stipling effect to the carprace suggesting it is from a different type of rock. Modelled so running along a pile of rocks for variety too.
Liche priest on camel. Not entirely convinced this worked as I intended. Relatively simple just lengthened the neck of the horse using spare skeleton horses.
Here is my WIP objective markers for the army. Rather than having terrain as an objective I decided to go tongue in check and have the thing that really pisses tomb kings off as the objective. Tomb robbers. These two are intended to be Indian Jones and Lara Croft once finished. I will also have a go at converting Rik O'Connel as well.
Once again have run out of time for my break so will post more later
Pyromanic - I realise that the movement trays need to be painted and finished just havent got round to it...

Continueing on from my last thread here is the rest of my army as it currently stands. There has been no progress on models this is just trying to get things up tot he now.
First up my light skeleton horsemen.
I know they are not the most popular unit in the army but I intended to use them in conjunction with banner of the hidden dead to allow them to get flank charges. I felt that when these guys were alive they would have filled a scouting, self relient approach more than the foot archers of the army. As such I have modelled them with two quivers of arrows, one as normal mounted over the back a second hanging over their right leg. I do also note that GW has made all their skeleton archers left handed but that is an aside. Models are painted and based in the standard style of my skeletons, which is black spray, snakebite leather base coat, drybrushed bronzed flesh highlight, drybrushed elf flesh highlight, drybrushed bleached bone highlight then a final detailing coat of skull white on teeth and extreme edges.
Here is my bone giant conversion. This model came about for several reasons, the first I did not have anything particularily hard hitting in the army. The second the gw produced bone giant is aweful and I would never consider using the model as is, sorry I really just dont like it. The third reason was that I saw the trygon model and really liked it and brought one then though hmm I dont play nids how can I use this thing. So a giant undead snake construct was born.
Minimal conversion work on this, the back has been straightened out so it stands taller, the head bent further forward so it can look down at the opponents/victims and obviously the arms/scything talons not used and replaced with skulls set into the sockets. The model is generally just using different bits of the trygon kit to change the look and make it more snake and less alien. It has been put on one of the old 5 x 4 movement trays to provide it with a square base, even if this would be bigger than what a bone giant would normally have. Decorated with sand and a palm tree. The sand has been profiled to suggest the snake moving around.
This details my tomb kings (of note) as is. I have some pictures taken of my imperial guard army to post as well when I get the chance.
Any comments or criticizims welcome
Looking very nice. I like the Trygon idea. Rep.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
No real progress on the modelling front recently. Been busy with work tough I have down some work on the my terrain as shown in the scenery forum. also I have had the first of my beastment purchases show up so I have spent a happy few hours trimming pieces of sprue and sorting out different conversion ideas. Though the beastmen will not be progressing to much further for a little while.
Anyway here is some photos of my guard super heavy armoured company based on Armegeddon.
This shows the "army" as it currently stands which is still 1660 points or so in 4 models. Currently consist of one shadow sword with targetters, one baneblade with double sponsons, 1 baneblade with no sponsons and a commissar lord.
Close up on the commissar lord. I have swapped his existing bolter for one of the newer bolt pistols as it just looks nicer and is more useful that way. Based on the steel legion commissar with gas mask.
Shadow sword, at this point the basic tank is complete with battle damage and accessories to add. I am going to leave the armour plates off to help differentiate the shadow sword chassis from the baneblades as I see it as more of a hidden tank hunter than a main battle tank. Targetters have been made using the lascannon turrets as a basis with the addition of the two pods from either side of the cockpit added from the valkyrie model as these look the part. My valkyrie has been converted into a Fury which will count as a vendetta in games, will post up some pictures later.
baneblade with double sponsons. this tank will eventually be the command tank of the second platoon which will all have double sponsons. The picture is a little blurry sorry I will attempt to get a better one to replace it at some point. Crew are visible at most of the access points into the tank with commander, loader, demolisher gunner and driver visible. The command is a female which has been converted using a female dark elf warrior as the basis of the torso and imperial guard and plastic card added to turn it into a steel legion trouper. Thanks to brother argos and his thread on his plastic steel legion army for some of the ideas used for this. Cable to internal tank rebreather supplier is a guitar string. Battle damage is present between the two port (left) sponson from an explosive shell burst.
Baneblade with no sponsons. This tank is the overall command tank of the company. the colonel commander has a head from a tomb king skeleton warrior with a rebreather coming off into the tank. Mild battle damage from an orc power claw present on the starboard (right) side of the tank. additional kit and comms aerials feature on both baneblades, too be added to the shadow sword still.
So about time for an update I think.
I havent made much progress on my armies recently due to other hobbies taking up large amounts of time and I have been concentrating on terrain a bit more.
I have progressed my wound counter markers so that they are matching closer to my army colours. They need one or two more highlights before they will be complete.
I have also put a bit of thought into modelling options and conversions for my upcoming beastmen army. Currently I am stuck on what to use for unit fillers to use for them. I already have one planned for my unit of beastigor. I also have a couple of blocks of gor and ungor to work something out for.
Anyway gota go.
They are not really army progress but none the less I have been working on the wound counters for my tomb kings recently. Have now highlighted the wood with a layer of bestial brown and the leather with a layer of snakebite leather.
At this stage am just working on terrain more when I get chance but the plan is to ensure that all of my tomb kings army is done prior to the beastmen army is progressed so there will be a bit of enforced painting coming along.
Double post sorry.
