So I will start/have started painting a Lizardmen army. 3D life is beeing demanding currently so I dont have a lot of time and updates are probably going to be slow at first but I hope I will be able to spend more time on this project after my classes start.
Since the only figures I did before are Chaos and I'm kind of new at doing skin, any and every advice or criticism is wellcome.
This is the list that is waiting to be painted:
Cold One Riders
A load of saurus and skinkies
Ok, well i got bored the other day and started on one Cold One, just to see how the color looks. I went for a chaos black basecoat and did his skin with scab red (skin is going to be red) , which i thought would be a good color to work myself up from.
So atm i left it with all the base colors i wanted done and with quite a bit of highlighting and shading needed to be done.
Here it is:
Now because of the basecoat I realy needed to be generous with the red to not have the black show too much, i did get the wanted -darkened effect- but I'm still not convinced that is the way to go, any thoughts?
ps. will get better pics up soon..

It looks good. `for the skin, I'd personally go over with blood red, and then wash the whole thing(the tanned skin included) in devlan mud, to shade the whole thing, and blend the red into the tan better

Looks good so far, I'll be following this thread closely as I have a unit of cold one riders to paint up too. I have no idea what colour to paint the cold ones though.

Ok so ive had a little bit of time the other day so i did some work on the cold ones, basically the army's owner liked the shade of red so i went on with highlighting the skin etc.
This still is not finished ofc, but i like the way it is turning out so far, beeing my first model of this typ and all...
Thoughts and tips are always welcome!
That is a nice strong red you have there. I like it.
Good point, think ill give it a try and see where it leads me, orange could work out realy well...
Yay my painting time is going up, slowly tho hopefully ill be done experimenting with the first model by the end of next week. Then ill have the extended weekend for the rest of the unit, woei!
So here's an update, and you were right Kuffy, looks a lot better. I skipped going even lighter because it looked too pinkish...
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Feedback is loved!
