Yeah I know, another project thread. What can I say? I get distracted easily.

I was given 2 boxes of Goblins by a mate and 4 Trolls by another mate so I thought. "Y'know I always did want to start another army other than Chaos". So here I am. Orcs.

This isn't a huge project as the army is only 1000pts. The painting will be gaming standard and fairly quick so don't expect Golden Daemon Standard. I want to get this army done and out of the way so I can get back to my Chaos.

Here's where I am so far.

Da Boss. Azgob Face Beater. Made from an old GorkaMorka Nob witht he blades off some Ogres.

Fizzbug Gonad Stompa. Azgobs trusty Battle Standard Bearer and general Grot enforcer.

Da Ladz! There will be another Rank but I've run out of bitz! Those stingy boys at GW only put 16 spears in a box of 19 Orcs!!!

Da Murkas - Some old River Trolls. No where near done but getting there. The skin is Catachan Green, the Scales Shadow Grey. Then the whole lot was washed with Devlan Mud. Then It was washed again with a mix of Devlan Mud and Thrakka Green.

another thread..........are you trying to beat Mousekiller for the amount of armies you have pal?
Let me think.......
I have 9 different Marine armies that I can think of. All in all that's way over 10000pts. I have 7 guard armies, near about 10000pts. I've got 2k of LOTR's Dwarves, 1k of Uruk-hai (not War of the ring), 6k of Fantasy Chaos and then some random characters and units left over from old armies. Then there is all the Specialist Games, atleast 7000pts in Gothic, Epic, Necromunda Gangs gallor and some Blood Bowl too.

It's shocking the amount of stuff I actually own. I gonna need to sell some of it when I move to Australia next year.

EDIT: I've got a 750pt Empire Army too. All made out of the old Metal Men at Arms.

KUFFY: Aye I'm not a fan either but I don;t like the Stone trolls either. The normal Trolls are cool but at almost £14 a pop there's no way I'm doing a unit. These guys I was offered for free so I could hardly say no could I :p

That is stupid. They also give you the command sprue from the old Fantasy Starter set. It's even got Orc legs for a Boar Rider in there (which was the general in the starter set!)

Sorry about the late reply. I've been on holiday and work has been pretty tough going and leaving me pretty shattered. No time for toys or L.O. Just beer then bed.

Anyway, enough excusses. Here's my update.

Finished the Trolls. Bases n all........

.........and done my Shaman too. Although I still need to paint that severed head on his belt. He's called "Da Big Wogg"

FlayedOne: Cheers for the comment. Yeah the claws do look odd. I think I will, at some point, go back and do them bone.

Kuffy: Hehe, too much stuff I think. I've got a Blood Angel army, a 2k Gunline Marine army, a 1.5k Marine Gunline army and various armies I'm going to get rid of. I might put some pics up on this site and see if anyone wants them. They're not golden daemon standard but they're Gaming standard or better in most cases. In my opinion anyway.

I like the basing you've done on the orcs an trolls, all the little details, like the rocks being different colour and the mushroom with the big boss, it makes them really come alive.
And i cant get my eyes off of the snake hiding in his neck

The trollscales are simply pro work.

* looks at his own models *

Oh well.
Sigh...

((Not forgotten about this thread either!))

Cheers Digger. To be honest though the scales are just shadow grey with 2 washes and then lightly drybrushed with ShadowGrey/White mix.

Ok, an update of sorts. I haven't done any painting as I've been concentrating on my Chaos but I have been doing some building. I've finished the Orc regiment (I had to scratch build some spears) and I've built a Goblin Bowmen unit.

Now I've done my Chosen for my Chaos I'm going to paint the Orc regiment. It wont be anything fancy as I really can't be bothered!! I'm just going for black cloths with checkers here n there, brown straps etc.

Not sure what else to add to the army now though. I've got 160pts left. Might add some wolf riders or something.

Wow.. um, where is the paint? :p Snap to it boy!

Coming from you that's rich :p Paint will come soon enough! I'm off today and tomorrow so I'll hopefull get some more painting done. The Orcs shouoldn't take too long hopefully. Although there is lots of flesh *sigh*

Lore Seeker: Aye they are quite cool. I had a game with this arm last night. I know I know, unpainted models - Blasphemy! but hey I wanted a game! The riders did alright considering Gork stepped on them twice! They were the only models left at the end of the game. My poor orcs died to a man playing Chaos.

Ah, the trolls shaped up nicely.
I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of fairly bright highlights that will still stand out on the tabletop :) On the scales for example. By the way, I think a box of the plastic trolls would mix fairly well with the old ones. A similar paintjob goes a long way. I've got IoB rat ogres and multipart rat ogres mixed in a unit. Works fine.

Great job Borak, I have to say unlike nearly everyone else I think I like those old trolls more than the new ones. But then again its like trying to decide which I like more Mars or Moro. Both are awesome in their own way.

Great paint job and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the ladz turn out. Also delighted to see the old Gorkamorka mini being used its always been one of my favourite ork/c mini.

Caveman: First off, Cheers!. Secondly, what's a Moro? The Old Gorka Morka Nobz are just plain awesome. My BSB is an old Nob too. Hell I even have that limited old one, the one that's got one foot on an ammo crate.

Seeker: I wouldn't go that far. I nlike the charm of the old ones. I do like the new ones but I prefer the old ones just........just because.
I do feel dirty playing with bare palstic though. It's bad enough with just undercoat but plastic? *shudders*

Anyway. A rather productive day actually. I've done loads of painting (in your face Kuffy). The skin still needs a highlight but the white, red, brown and straps are all done!!!!!

Alright so it's been a while but I'm back on this army now. 40k is done and dusted and so now i'm back here.......I'm sure I said somewhere this army was going to be done quickly.........

Orcs are done now. It's taken 3 Months but they are, at least, done.

Cheers dudes. The Cow hide shields were a running theme ;)

Ok, well I've actually been fairly busy this weekend. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves rather than rabbiting on. Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit...........

Unit of Goblins - Done!!!

........and I bought some new toys. There were 22 Spear Orcs before, now? There's 60! Plus a Unit of Wolf Riders AND a unit of 22 Orcs with two Choppas!

I'm also thinking of putting aGiant in the army. With a big Plasticard 'Iron Gob' and a Green paint job. He might even get a goblin painting him green somewhere. I think I'll call him.... Da Green Giant.

Ho Ho ho....

Aye, everything there is now 1500pts and I'm even branching out into the 2k range now!!

Truth be told I spent rather to much time on those Goblins. I just love the GorkaMorka Snot models and couldn't stop myself but hey ho, I think it was worth it.

Right, anyway, another update. Battle Standard bearer is done.

and here's a sneak peek at something else I've started.

That BSB is veery very nice, kudos on that Borak! I like the checkered pattern (does it exist as a word in English btw?How do you define the little squares? :S man this is no good a doubt given my undergoing education :( anyways. Enough blabbering.) it is very sharp and nicely executed. The club is one of the parts I like the most, crude but that must be quite effective in the hands of a pissed Orc.
And the horns are great too! Have some rep for a good looking model, will you?

Cheers,
LS

P.S. is that...a metal giant (Albion?) with plasticard maw and greenstuff helmet?

*conveniently walks in once everything is painted*

I'm digging the Orcs, I'm really tempted to get some, now even more so :)
But decide to make a Trogg and companions army instead xD

Ok enough blabbing bout me, I love what you did with your orcs, the regiments are never boooring to look at, each time you can find something new.
And I got a kick out of the cow hide shields, how ever did you think of that?

Cheers Guys,

LoreSeeker: Yeah I felt the model needed a bit 'more' so added some checkers (or chequers ;)) to add something to the model. I quite like the loook so now I'm going to do the whole unit with checks on the right side of their face. I'll probably be regretting that after the first model but there we have it. I think it will add a theme to the unit anyways.

Thank you kindly for the Rep :) The Giant.......well, you'll have to wait and see!!

Rinn: Ha! I WISH everything was painted!!! I've painted 22 Orcs out of 82!! Plus I've got a unit of wolf riders

The Throgg army is cool. I played a throgg army on Saturday with this Ork army and was completely annihilated!! Damn Chaos. I now feel sorry for all the kickings I gave people with my Chaos, but only sightly.

Thanks on the cowhide shields, I can't claim the idea though. My old Boss at GW had some Cowhide sheilds on his Lord of the rings Orcs and I have, completely, stolen the idea!!!

Yea, I noticed the *ahem* lot that you still had left after i posted :p
Well giraffe hide shields next time! That could be a first!

And nice to see Trolls doing well (sorry :p), since i was afraid everyone would just get a truck load of fire, but after a couple of games with them (read: a bunch of pieces of wood acting as trolls attached to post-it's pretending to be bases) i was pleasantly surprised.

Just took a closer look at your standard bearer, was wondering how you did the horns, realy like the final look and altho i was very carefull with the one i painted on my steg, couldnt get a finish like that!

#32 · (Edited)
I'd not done Horns like that before actually but had seen it often enough so had a go. It was basecoated Bleached bone then had a devlan mud wash over it. Then I did lines of Graveyard earth working from around two thirds up from the base and then up to the tip. I then did this again, going a little further up and a little bit thinner with Bestial Brown, then Scorched Brown then Scorched Brown mixed with Black. The Scorched brown/Black mix was pretty much just at the tip of the horn.

Hey, maybe I'll do leopard print shields.

Aye Trolls are a good force however I think he was using a 1750pt force Vs my 1500pt force, cheating git that he is!!!! Fire is sometiems a double edged Sword though. I might still take it in a all rounders list but there are some units that are immune to fire. Dragon Princes for one but there are some items that can give a 2+ Ward Vs fire. You should ask for some advice/tips/dirty combo's is the Chaos board.
