I have had a little quite unpainted high elf army lying around for a loong time now... and darn it it should be painted!!!
So i began painting, and after 10 minutes of painting, I started to miss the flat armour plates and square bolters of my marines!
High elfs are harder to paint. More detail and generally smaller figures!
A mage and a noble:

Piss poor pictures... My camera sucks!
I didn't want to use the more common blue colour scheme, so I opted for the red and white scheme from the old spearman packages!
With the base of the mage, I've tried to make it look like he is conjuring a tidal wave of night!
Now I just hope I can improve my elf painting skills!
Hope you like it!

I like them! Your reds are very bright and suit HE perfectly. But that night thing under the Mage is just astonishing. I've been looking for something like that for a while, because I intend to use it on a future mounted BSB. Would you happen to share the recipe?
Cheers, have some rep for some well done pointy ears. Waiting for more!
Yeah, the base.... for starters 10 layers of the WORST paint in GW history... Regal blue... Beautiful colour, but a pain to get even. I swear that there are fewer paint pigments in a pot of regal blue, than on one brush full of foundation paint... and I painted over a layer of fenris grey!
Anyway, after an even coat of regal blue, I washed with loads of badab black. Then I highlighted with straight regal blue. After that, a 3:1 regal blue to white highlight, then a 1:1 regal blue to white highlight. Lastly i painted stars (more like dots!) with skull white on it.
I hope it's usefull!
It is nice to see another Fantacy project on here to be honest. I have always like the elves in WHF. Very nice job so far look forward to seeing more!
Kendo's DA's, Eldar, and stuff WIP
Dark Angels: W-22 D-4 L-5 High Elves W-8 L-1
10 archers done.
These were the only part of the army i had started to paint so i finished them quite fast.
Not the best paint job... but it's a completed regiment.
Finished regiment and group shot so far. It's a good start
Next up: 10 White Lions of Chrase (I will take my time on these. I want it to be an ace paintjob)
Closeup on that banner please!
Looking good. The green gems go along really well with the reds. Are you going to play the command group or is it there only for the cooler models?

Niiice But how come WL next if the army (so far at least) is Saphery themed?
I number of reasons... a part of my army will be from hoeth. Mage, archers and swordmasters (personal retinue). while my noble will bring a more diverse warband. He will have a bodyguard of Phoenix guard. He will also bring Spears, Lions and a chariot.
I want to play some games and I want something killy I if I went all out fluffy, my army would be almost entirely spears, RBT's and silverhelms. Only a few elite choices. It would be a people's army(from Saphery).
But most important! The new models are aaaaweesome!!! It was a joy to put them together and viewing the badassery when they were done! Lion killing psychos living in forests carrying huge axes, whats not to like...
