Ive never done a blog....or ever finished a whole armys worth of painting. So this is hopefully going to be the first time for both!
Ive also never ever collected a space marine army in all my years of playing 40k either, I prefer my xenos, so that another first im completing here!
Anyway, thanks to a load of games work shop vouchers, and a bit of extra cash, I decided to splurge one a new army. I was going to go for dark angels, but after reading the badab war stuff, ive decided to go with something a bit different. The red scorpions. The reason for this been they look ace, and its an excuse to shop at forgeworld.
Anyway, im not the greatest painter in the world, im very slow, but I feel im at least competent! So this thread should motivate me! I also doing plan armies out in advance, i tend to buy stuff that looks good, has interesting rules, and try it out. As such, so far, its very unbalanced. So far 2 deliverys have arrived, and im waiting on 2 more. All models will have forgeworld upgrades, other than the scouts, but I cant see them staying in my army unless they surprise me. Anyway, onto what I have so far.
Sevrin Loth with honor guard
5 terminators (1 chainfist, 1 cyclone launcher)
10 tactical marines
2 x devestator squads (1 anti armor, 1 anti infintry)
5 scouts (armed with bolters and thrown into the thick of it, as per the red scorpions fluff!)
5 red scorpions Vanguard vets
Red scorpions Rhino
2 x Red scorpions razorbacks
2 x Apothocaries (for when using culnns chapter tactics rules)
All this has already been ordered, and on the way after payday..
Land raider crusader/redeemer
Second tactical squad
Land raider achilles (simply because I want to paint one!)
Then I intend to expand it into a more balanced army, instead of simply what looked fun to paint!
And now, the photos! (I apologise for my poor galaxy s phones none flash camera!)
The first delivery, opened by a very very hungover me!
Vanguard Veterens built
Seth and his honor guard
Half painted seth, done hungover. hopefully going to finish this up properly and clean it up tomorrow!
Thats it so far, waiting for the rest of my stuff. I have the shoulder pads for tactical and dev squads, and ive built the rhino with the forgeworld doors. Waiting for my other orders to get it all built, then startingon some mass painting!
Bit more done today, done a couple of tactical marines to get used to the colour scheme.
Decided to base coat in charadon granite, and black wash, to give a really dark grey rather than doing pure black. Then highlight with codex grey. Worked out quite well I think! (again, sorry for the poor photo, im yet to get a proper digi cam)
My culln model also arrived today, and I have to say, its ace! im looking forward to getting him painted up!
Anyway, for now, heres my first tactical marine. Aiming to get 2 models done a night at the moment to a half decent standard.
