Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi everyone, I've decided that I could make a thread for my humble army. Even though I certainly don't have such greatness to offer as some others in their logs, it would be nice to see what people think. And everyone wants to show off, I guess
Also, though I plan on playing the game someday, I mostly want to have a nice army possibly with conversions that I find interesting and ďfluffyĒ, so itís absolutely possible there will be things not quite by the rules. I probably wonít play in an official GW event ever and , so who cares?
I'm not going to elaborate on the fluff too much right now, but so far I have this scheme in mind. The 6th Scintillan regiment got separated from the rest of the fleet by a warp accident and is lost somewhere in the Ghoul Stars with many casualties on board. The pilots manage to land the transport on a barren planet that seems to be the site of an isolated Explorator outpost, as well as home to thousands of orks. After joining forces with the magos in charge of the outpost, the Scintillan 6th struggle to survive in the harsh iron oxide desert of XCV-108 under constant threat from the orks.
The presence of AdMech allows for some uncommon unit modifications, but I didnít want to go with an all-Skitarii army (one of the reasons for having an IG army is that theyíre more human than anything else). I might do one unit of Skitarii to serve as veterans or stormtroopers in the future, but for now itís guard only. Maybe some sergeants could have some bionics, but I donít want to overdo it.
I donít have much models yet and even fewer are assembled and painted, but here are some pics so far. The guys without the corks are almost done, Iím only tinkering with the bases. The ones with bright bases are from the same batch, and the ones with white bases need their eyes painted and of course the bases as well. These two are newer and I was more confident in painting, though Iím not sure it would be possible to spot the difference on the photos.
Hopefully this isnít the last update in this log. I still have to get 2 squads finished and I have a sentinel to assemble and a vehicle to convert.
i like the colour scheme, though it pains me to say it i think that the base is a little too much like their armour and maybe a different colour should be used
Yeah, some people also told me the bases should be done in a different colour. I'll have to think about it and test some other shades. And maybe make the bases more interesting, with some rubble etc.
I still think having too contrasting bases betrays the whole idea of camouflage. You don't wear red/brown when fighting on snow (that's kind of extreme, but you know what I mean). Marines or eldar don't care about camouflage, guard should imho.
But as I said before, others' opinions are welcome. What colour would you recommend?
i happnen to be a colour blind idiot, my wolves are dark gray and i used a purple wash over sand, but the rim is a denhab stone which helps break it up, there is detail on the model so the base dosent matter. try painting the rim on a few models with a gray or something similar, that should help, barring that wash a lighter red over the base to brighten things up, really hope that helps.
How about this? The base itself is a bit brighter, bestial brown washed with ogryn flesh (unnecessary, just testing) and the rim is tamiya light sea grey.
Furthermore, I recently received a pack of magnets, so hopefully it won't be long before I have a sentinel ready for priming.
actually that does look great, the ogryn flesh probably helps lightin it enough, cant wait to see the sentinel.
Thanks. Though the wash made it a bit darker. Bestial brown is quite bright on white, I didn't apply the wash on another base and it's even brighter.
I guess I could do the bases like this, they can always be redone if I change my mind...
Rep for a brave choice on the color scheme. The red armor looks very "Scintillan"
Can't wait to see what you make out of the walker.

Well, thank you very much
Does it? To be honest, I have little clue what colours Scintillan regiments should wear, so I hope I'm not breaking the lore somehow
I like them, and I agree with you about the camo thing. I'd leave the bases as they are, but you should add something to "break them" and don't make them melt with the proper model too much. Like rubble or tufts maybe?
Good job, keep these going!
