Night Haunter's Guard
A Night Lords Blog

I think these look awesome. I wasn't too keen on the angelic winged version but the bat wings work so much better for the theme around the army. Great stuff.
Kuffy
Thanks for the kind words guys!
Here's the last two members of the first squad.![]()
Next up, I'll either be painting these guys or creating the Night Priests (Sanguinary Priests).
I think I've decided that only the models actually equipped with Artificer armor should have the Sanguinary Guard bodies.
So I'd want a way for the priests to still seem special. Right now I'm considering starting with either the Aspiring Champion torso (with the chainmail loincloth) or ordering up some of the ribcaged torsos from the possessed sprues to give them a unique feel. I haven't decided yet... What do you guys think?

Very nice, I like the models very much... but I do have a question. Your fluff, seems like despite being Chaos they are still somewhat "good guys". Can Chaos do this!?!?! lol

These are great. Each model rocks. They def. look like bad guys to me (only complaint is the winged hilt on the sword of the final model looks too Imperial). In an Apoc game you could use BA Sang. guard rules for them, or in a friendly game, and still use them in conjunciton with a chaos army.

I love this type of thread. I really, really love this stuff. Converting is more fun to me than painting, and sometimes gaming, and this is a great idea well executed.
How to make them special? I'm toying about mentally with kit bashing some Warhammer bits. It's in there somewhere....
Lani - I'd say of course they can!
Seanchadith - Why not? My group welcome the converted Adeptus mechanicus marines / or My Undead IG (and I get to go on the bad guys side with IG in apocalypse! yaay!)
- oh, there are other armies there too (e.g. the Tyranids using Skaven models, the Star Wars IG etc)
As long as you make clear what rules you're using at the beginning, and stick to it (no mixing codexe's) it's never gone wrong.
( Having a crystal clear army list helps too )
I am looking intently.

Adeptus Mechanicus Marines: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ml#post1655065
There is nothing "Good" about these guys, I assure you. Though they refuse to allow themselves to be tainted by Chaos, they're not opposed to using other Chaos tainted Night Lords as shock troops. (I'll be including a squad or two of Vanguard Veterans all chaosed out and looking a bit like possessed.) Also, they loathe the Emperor and the Imperium with every fibre of their being for taking away their Primarch. They want nothing more than to watch it all burn. I hope that clears up the idea that they might be good guys, lol.
Oh, I am absolutely using these guys as Sanguinary Guard. The army lists I'm writing all use the Blood Angels Codex, and from a rules perspective, these will be nothing more than a heavily converted Sanguiary Guard list. I'm making sure that they all have the proper weapons and wargear modeled on them, etc. Except for the Night Lord conversions, this will pretty much be a WYSIWYG army.
The only exception it looks like I may need to make is the Night Priest (Sanguinary Priest) will not be able to use the Apothecary bits, so I'll need to model them to stand out quite a bit to make it clear they're not like the others.
Thanks for the comments guys!![]()

I must say, this is an awesome idea, and I love the conversions and can't believe I'm not already subscribed to this!
Good call with the Gargoyle wings, too, I think they definitely look a lot more 'Night-Lordy' now
Best of luck for the rest of the project.
My wife approved my budget for this project, so I put in an order with thewarstore.com for 5 Sanguinary Guard boxes, 3 Tyranid Gargoyle boxes, and 2 Possessed boxes, in addition to a variety of bits needed for the project.
I also ordered 3 more Night Lords conversion kits from GW, AND I just visited my local game store (which is 45 minutes away) and bought a bunch of paints, and some fresh tools for this project.
My wife is saying that our apartment looks like it's covered in "snow drifts of bits". I've always worked on the floor (been doing it this way for 15 years) and I've claimed this corner of the apartment as my domain for this project.
Oh, by the way, the paints I bought were....
Necron Abyss (Base Coat)
Mechrite Red (For Wings)
Blood Red (For Wings)
Skull White (Mostly for the Lightning)
Chaos Black
Ice Blue (For putting behind the lightning)
Regal Blue (probably a heavy drybrush)
Dwarf Bronze (Trim)
Shining Gold (Trim)
Boltgun Metal (Gun barrels and other metal bits)
Bleached Bone (Skulls)
Scorched Earth (Basing Base Coat)
Graveyard Earth (Skull Base Coat and Basing Highlight)
I hope that covers everything I'll need, because I'd hate to have to drive back to the hobby shop for just 1 or 2 paints. >.<
I hope to have a test model painted up in the next couple of days to see if "my vision" will work, or turn out to be a disaster. >.>
