a thug might have ripped sleves and gang graffiti

Vulcan: Aye, gang graffiti is a must, though the torn sleves would probably do my head in with all the special attention these buggers have gotten already
Deadstar: Commisars? I'm more worried about some kids parents!
Holidays seem to be going quick, and only 4 models painted
Thankfuly I've been getting some modeling in there too. with many of the Savlar Chem dogs sporting shoulderpads and other strange conversions, even had a go at constructing a bodyguard for my CO, but I'II leave the pics of them for when they're in a more finished state.
So far, my slow painting speed has kept me invested in finishing my already assembled and basecoated guardsmen squad which have been wanting some love for a while now. I've been trying new modeling ideas with each squad I built so far with the intention of mixing them all up in the future to give a real rag tag look to the army. This seemed far easier than doing multiple conversions all at once, since it's already a time sink as it is.
Anyway, on to a bit of history:
The 1st squad I made for the army was a trial concept, using catachan heads, greenstuffed collars and various weapon mods to their lasguns. I really wanted to replace the oringinal shoulder pads since, well, they're just silly really. That was early 2010.
2nd squad was built with the idea of using the cadian heads to save myself buying a box of catachans for every squad, some cutting and filing gave them a unique look which suites their less bulky frames. That was mid 2010
For the 3rd squad I wanted to try reduce the amount of time needed to greenstuff on shoulderpads, by removing them all together and just being more careful with cutting and filing. That was late 2010 (and now they're being painted).
The result can be seen with the two I finished the other day, looking very mean and lean >
And after all that, I decided to make a squad of savlar chem dogs...
WILL I NEVER LEARN
Anyway, the camo for these fellas has come through with a simple desert yellow with bleached bone highlight that breaks up the murky look the model had previously. You'll also notice the symbol on his helmet, that's an angry smiley. Every army should at least have one right?
The test model (IG Luietenant) has darker spots, but I prefer the brighter version. Though I am liking the grey cap, guess it's time for more modling then!
Comments or critisim are welcome!

Hold the line here ... we are the last line for our future...

Gah! So much dust! Has it really been two months already???
Uni and Deus Ex certainly seem to have taken a toll on this old thread, so I think it's time for some new incentive: A Tale of X gamers!! (or TOXG for short)
So I've gone ahead and bosted that I could finish up 1,000 points of guard in 6 months (with 170pts per month), the reality that imperial guardsmen cost very few points, but cost quite a bit in Aus dollars only getting through to me this morning!
Thus I've gone ahead and bought some second hand minatures from the local store, some being unpainted, others a horrible green blob thing with red eyes... not very pretty at all.
Thankfuly the magic of a Detol soak for 2 days gets rid of the worst offenders (ie thick paint), something of a 'learn as you do' experience with my first model and my first 170pts for the TOXG.
As you can see, the Leman Russ is having a lovely chemical bath, which is the second one it has needed to endure to remove ALL the paint.
Being a standard pattern Russ with a Las-canon on the front, this should give my army some much needed heavy firepower!
Which reminds me...
In the last few days I've been painting madly, finishing the last few guardsmen for my third squad.
I think I've about 500pts here, though I'II probably need to get an army list ready by some time this week.
In any case, it's certinaly going to be an intersting 6 months!

Good luck.
Love the green stuff conversions! I also want to create a IG army one day, to tie-in with my IW, so I'll keep an eye out here.

looks good, a nice break from the totally 'melta vet' armies that are everywhere these days (I did it myself!)
Good luck fellow taler![]()

MrBuddha: Aye the greenstuffing has been one of the most fullfilling part of this army. Takes bloody forever, but the finished products are sure worth it! Also, what is IW?
Waddywoos: *looks at list, looks at coment, looks back at list* Yeah, heh, not a melta vet list at all...
Well I'II get on with this small update here since I've yet to assemble my tank and start the conversion process, and only 23 days left in September
So far I've been cutting up the second hand mini's I bought last weekend, some having been put together with some sub-standard glue that's crystalised and is really easy to break apart. Guess these fellas will need a total deconstruction
Also in that pack was a few models from the Catachan command squad (my personal favourite of the new IG kits), the most important part being the standard bearer. That poor fellow has had both his head and arm 'reaquired' for a redo of my standard bearer that had been sitting there since.... well I think it's a year ago... anyway they've recieved their greenstuffing to touch up some minor blemishes (such as missing half his neck) and should be ready for painting very soon
The chem dogs have also seen some activity, another mask put in place along with straps and such. I'II try get some pics in here by tonight so you're not just reading here.
I've also considered removing the peaked cap from my officer of the fleet and replacing it with a far less magnificent one, and an eye patch as well!
Anyway, half way through the week and the army is taking shape at last! Hazah for progress!

Ah... melta vets it is!! To be fair, you haven't posted a list and none of the pics have any meltas in them haha. You've evidently built a very good sneaky ninja melta vet army!
