IW = Iron Warriors. I want to add an IG renegade army later to my IW force, as part of an uneasy alliance between the two factions.

waddywoos:
You obviously didn't see them in the army photo thenYou've evidently built a very good sneaky ninja melta vet army!
TBH I'II probably only have a single melta vet squad in the army, since they do seem a tad cheesey. Meanwhile I think I'II go with some demo vet squads with flamers and Chimeras, nothing cheesey about that!
MrBuddha: Disciples of the metal gods eh? Sounds interesting...
Having just completed my first run through of Deus Ex 3, it's about time I got back into constructing my tank.
So here she is, cleaned, reconstructed and ready for some conversion work:
First up will be to green stuff some cloth over the hull mounted las-canon to remove the obvious glue line there. Then it'll be patching holes, adding some finer details to the armor and adding bagage.
Since the model originaly had Heavy Bolter sponsons, there's some glue damage on the left side of the tank.
I'm thinking of adding some cloth over the top to hide it, or even using some greenstuff to cover it... any other techniques I could use?
So apart from building the tank this morning, I've also been working on the infantry as well, notably the Company Command Squad and the Savlar Chem Dogs.
Here's a little taste of the semi-finished models!
They've come along very well, though I'II be putting in a lot more time into my tank now since that IS my allocated points for this month
Finaly, the boys will be having there first skirmish this evening at the local store, just a little 750pt battle with some reserves from my older guard army.
If I'm not run off my feat, I might even get some pics of them in action!
Thanks for the comments, till next time then.

As far as covering the glue marks - you could always go for good old camo netting. Thats always a great eye distraction techniqueI've seen tutorials about making it frombits of bandage and stuff that looked good.

Another option might be strips of plasticard with rivets on suggesting a repair in the field. If done neatly it shouldn't end up looking orky.

Waddywoos: I've already used two pieces of camo netting for that side of the tank for other misshaps/window dressing, so it'd be a tad overkill to put another on there. Plus I'd be curious as to how the camo netting is held in place on the side anyway...
Commisarlestat: I've seen quite a bit of plasticard work on the forums, most of which looks absolutly amazing, so I'II probably give this a try. I need some practice for my eventual Hydra conversions anyway...
Though I can't believe it's nearly half way through the month already! The tank still isn't even ready to prime yet![]()

Hey I wouldn't worry too much, you might find that you get a day or two where you end up just hobbying for 6 hours straight or something and get it finished in one go. As of two days ago I had done a sum total of about 60 points (two ogres) on the way to my 400+ point target, but I bashed out a thundertusk in two days (bigger than a tank!) and now i'm over 300
You'll find a way! And I must say I really do like the look of your guardsmen so I'm rooting for you!![]()

You have my admiration and sympathies Andy. Firstly, your army is looking great, so theres my admiration. As for the sympathies, I have previously tried to do a green-stuffed guard army and only managed 7 modelsIts just so hard to keep going! May the Emperor keep you from my fate.
Heres some rep as means of encouragement![]()

Thanks for the encouragement Waddywoos and ChadMS. I can honestly say now that I really, REALLY miss the second squad of guardsmen I converted, just greenstuffing shoulders was the quickest thing in the world compared to these Chem Dogs!
In any case, now there's only ten days to go and the damn tank is as finished as it'll ever be. My attempts of adding rivets being a resounding failure, but that needn't matter because it looks damn awesome anyway!
The plasticard is in place and looking quite sound, that along with all the other bits and bobs I've glued on there makes it ready for it's first coat of paint before the week is out.
In other news, nearly all the Chem Dogs have thier signature breathing masks and chemical tanks in place, the designs of which I've been a tad random with.
Some have the original double tube injector that the old codex approved article shows them having, whilst most others use a single tube with various mods to the mask itself.
These fellas will sure look mean by the end of the week! (Perhaps some pics before I head off for the weekend...)
Now I'd better be sure I have enough primer for an entire tank...
Till then, may the weather only get warmer![]()
It al looks awesome, i always like the look of a fully painted guard army on the field.
As Chad has said, I wish you luck with al the conversion work, my head exploded after the tenth guardsmen. But the results you are archieving are definetely worth the effort, keep it up! :-)
