Welcome to Librarium Online!
So it has been quite a while since I posted anything. In that time I have gotten married, a big hit to modeling time, and now I am deployed to Afghanistan. My boss and some of my coworkers are all going to be starting an army as a time killer. My friend and I will start by splitting the assualt on black reach box set. As you can guess by the title I will be getting the Orks. I plan on posting pictures and updates as the project progresses. I will post later with the full list of planned models and possibly conversions. I hope yall enjoy this as much as me. I am planning on just over 500 points for the army and may go higher in the future. Also a side project might be a classic kill team. But this will depend on if my boss wants to do this also. we are the veteran players and the other two are Nobs so i may spend most of my time helping them out. The planned completion date for this undertaking is NLT February. We will see if I can stay on schedule. can't wait to see comments and the like once the models arrive I hope to do at least weekly updates.
Looking forward to seeing it happen!
So the AoBR box arrived today. I have to say I am quite impressed with the mold quality on the pieces. I have not taken anything off the sprue as I do not have my flush clippers and really want to avoid filling in tons of little pits from twisting the pieces off. The coworker I split the box with has already taken his space marines and I think he is going to to start assembly tomorrow. He is new to the hobby but I think with time he will a good painter and modeler. As for me I am thinking of converting the NOBS to bikers or the deffkopters to buggies or bikes. I am really leaning towards a speed freaks army. More to follow. unfortunately the project is on hold till my paints and modeling supplies arrive. Also I think the codex is not going to arrive till November. Well time to go.
Best of luck. This should be an interesting project once it gets going
I'll be following this interesting project! What do you have in mind for your Ork army? Are you goin speed, horde maybe kan wall?
Ok no pictures yet as my camera is being stupid tonight and not downloading the pictures. But, I have assembled all the boys and NOBs. Partially assembled the Deffkoptas and base coated everything black. I have left the Warboss and deffkoptas only partially assembled to make painting them easier and to allow for a better paint job on them. Also I have received my first Trukk and some Warbikers. I have decided on a psuedo Speed freak army as this will stay a small army for the purposes of the deployment. If I like it there is the opportunity for expansion latter. I have decided that the Nobs, Trukk, warbikers and deffkoptas will probably be painted in a Evil suns manner with reds and yellows. The Boyz and the Warboss will most likely be Goffs or Blood Axes. Conversions will be done latter on a different warboss to replace the the AoBR warboss but I have yet to buy him as I am still planning out the conversion to match the armies I will encounter here. Namely Smurfs, Grey Knights and Space Wolves. Additional conversions may be done to create a looted wagon if I have the time or find out I need more heavy support. Which with Grey Knights in the mix I will most likely be screaming for some good weaponry. Also Bought a Tau Codex so there may be another project on the horizon. Hope to have pictures next week for you all. Also I received my paint, went with reaper master series paints just waiting on brushes to start the painting. If you have any suggestions please post. **Warning Shameless begging for Bitz to follow** Also I am always looking for good Bitz for conversions so if you have any you think would work please feel free to PM and we can see if a trade or other arrangement can be reached.
Ok a couple of quick pictures. After all that is why we all look at these threads. Nothing cool yet just basic post assembly.
Ok so the pictures are horrible the only camera i have right now is on the cell phone and I really don't have a good place to take pictures but I will try better in the future. As you can see I left the deffkoptas and Warboss mostly un assembeled to allow me a better chance to paint the hard to get areas. Thanks for the support.
That camera on the phone actually isn't so bad. sometimes flash can destroy the detail and other times I think it really brings things out. You gunna be removing the mold lines?
I removed as much as the limited tools I have here would allow. But then with Orks I think on the metal bitz it will help with that ramshackle look. If I do it right. I think these guys will be a core and and test set so when I expand I will be a little more detail oriented.
