Hey guys so this is my first post on the LO forums in quite a while I came over here from warhammer-empire and was interested in posting some pictures of my snail paced empire army. My name is Pete im 18 years old I have been playing all manners of Warhammer since I was 7 or something rediculous like that, I love the hobby but school has become an annoying pain in my a**. This army I have been working on for a little while now although I don't have very much time to put into the hobby I scrap every morsel of time I can find. This Army is painted with a Middenheim feel although the colour's are broken up by using some dull reds and yellows which I think offers a descent tribute to the 90's "Red Period". Concurrent with Middenheim fluff I am not using very many blackpowder weapon's such as cannon and mortar's however I hope to add some pieces in a Hochland theme to give the impression of mercenaries. Well anyway's here some pics of terrain and junk hope you like! Also leave a comment it really helps keep me paiting.
First up I have my Marco Colombo model I grabbed with a bunker membership at my local GW I painted this model when I was pretty young 13 I think so there is much room for improvement!
Next Is my captain on horse Fortunately I picked this model up in an auction although he's in rather rough condition I hope to buff him up in the coming year!
Here I have a Teutogen guard model I am using as a stand in Warrior Priest simply because they are sexy models! Also this was my first attempt at NMM and I think it came out alright leave some c&c I would love to hear what you think!
Next I have a bsb/banner model for my state troops in the middenheim feel I gave my best attempt at a freehand wolf although it still remains questionable.
Now I have my unit of spearmen which unfortunately I got back in 7th when spears weren't entirely useless. Leave a comment if you like the lion banner!
Now we move on to my piece of artillery, wish it wasn't in the Middenheim colour scheme but that's trivial!
Now we have a few handgunners which again I wish werent in the Middenheim colour scheme but life get's ya down :wow: . Kinda crappy paint job and there's about 30 more of em!
Now we will move on to the Halberdiers I'll show you a couple of smaller group shots which was before the unit got finished!
Now the Finished unit!
Now finally we have a few greatsword's (so named goldswords for being so damn expensive)! Just quick and dirty paintjob the best kind
Here's a random hobbit archer.
and last some terrain which was my first real attempt with making terrain however crappy it might be!
First up with have some standing stones. The board I mounted them on warped a bit. (Meh)
Now we have some ruined rock walls.
Some hills and forests!
A couple of buildings made out of foamboard and matches!
and a big centerpiece I might use for the desert terrain I am now in the process of making sorry for posting it before it's finished! :waaagh:
Anyways guy's that's some of my stuff I am almost finished 10 more halberdiers to beef up my unit to 50 and I have 60 more basecoated and ready to go along with 15 knights and 5 pistoliers a few greatswords and a crap ton of old 7th edition models and some artillery.
hopefully I will be able to finished this mountain of models over the next 5-6 months however it is not likely. One question I would like to pose do you guys think I should paint the remaining 60 halberdiers and the remaining blackpowder in a Hochland theme or not?
Well I am looking forward to hearing your responses and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
All looking sweet mate. Scenery, banners and everything looks good. Reminds me I've been neglecting my own Empire thread *smacks wrist* I must say though, that lion banner looks awesome. Is he going to get teeth? Great Swords are indeed Expensive............ It's why I converted mine out of Militia Far cheaper.
Warping Boards. Try putting bits of sprue or similar sturdy plastic on them to stop them warping. Or, try putting PVA glue on the under sides. Sometimes that warps it back into place or at the very least reduces the warpage.
Yea the warping boards was a bit of an upset but I didn't care all that much it's pretty basic terrain. The militia and state troops swords went towards knights so there was nothing left to save me some money. Fortunately I got all my greatswords from army box/batallion boxes which was the easiest way to get so many state troops. Im glad you like the models and be sure to post in your empire thread we need the love. What do you think about the Hochland idea?
Anyways thanks for the feedback.
That's a good idea about using the Two handed sword arms for Knights. Not thought about that one although I have no Knights..... Far too expensive for my poor lads.
The Hochland idea seems good. They're neighbouring forces and no doubt outlying border forces would tag together in times of need. Like bashing Beastmen in the Drakwald. The Empire boards do indeed need some love. Some ideas on how to liven them up would be good. Not sure how to do it myself. There's not much 'newness' or 'wow' factor to a 5 year old army book....... Here's hoping for a new army book!!
On a random note. I like the touch on the 90's 'red era'. I'm tempted to paint an army like that just for kicks. Loads of bright colours. Bright red weapons and snot green sand bases highlighted up with yellows. Might bring me back to my youth.
Speaking of Empire boards and you painting Empire stuff. Check this thread out. We could do with some more people involved. http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...owing-off.html (The Painting challenge............ or just plain showing off.)
Hey Borak thanks for the link, i'm definitely down although I may not be the best painter. Thanks for the ideas and the kind words from what I have gathered the Hochland theme will be visited I hope to paint 5 pistoliers a mortar a cannon and 40-50 state troops in Hochland colours!
Yes actually I am using marco as a life wizard? and I have a box of two more awaiting the brush however my paints have mostly dried up so i need to go pick myself up some vallejo. I feel like the time has come to start converting over to other products because GW has dropped in quality and it is stupidly expensive, not to mention the damn pots of paint dry up like an 80 year old hooker. For my Hochland colours I plan on using
2.Blood Red/Mechrite Red
3. red Ink
3.Goblin Green/Knarloc Green
Anyways tell me what ya think!
Lol, I'm dreading my return to the UK. I've left my paints there for a year and I'm praying they haven't all dried up. It's no great loss as you can still buy all the old GW paints from the original supplier, Coat of Arms (Coat D'arms) but they still ain't cheap. I'm picking up some of those Vallejo paints too. I've seen some very good effects with them so will be giving them a twirl!!
The colour schemes look good. Are you using a Red 'gloss' ink or a 'matt' ink? A gloss might look a bit weird on materials.
