Just started painting this little gem of a model from Andrea Miniatures as my Historical entry for Salute this year. first impressions of the model when i opened the box was wow, although Andrea are fairly pricey think they are worth every penny, hardly a mouldline and beautifully sculpted. I am going to enjoy painting this lad........
Work so far, his face is only thing I have worked on and is still not finished yet
dude that is sikkk love it
painter for 11 years :) still love it.... hoping to one day win a golden demon wud be nice :P
Nice. I like the knuckle tattoos, although I think you've been watching too much 'Master and Commander,' haha. What are your plans for his clothes? Are you going to the historical route, or the traditional striped socks and colorful trousers?
Show off. Stop painting big things!!! He is 54mm right? If he's 28mm I'm going to go off and cry.
Skin looks lovely as usual. Are his shins clothed or did you just forget to paint them
Haha, pretty sure he's 54mm, or else that's the tiniest bottle of 'Linen White' paint that I've ever seen! That is a good question about his legs though - I was trying to look for any wrinkles around his ankles that would be a dead giveaway for socks, but I can't see any in the pictures. It looks like there might be a seam on the back of his right calf, but that could be a shadow or just my bad eyes.
54mm, he has socks, I will paint the clothes in traditional themes it is a historical category after all. HOLD FAST is a very common british naval tattoo and as a lot of pirates in the carribbean were ex British, Spanish, French and Dutch navy I felt it was appropriate, although I have put it in the wrong place should be just below the knuckles on the fingers so will require a repaint tonight. And there are plenty more traditional british navy and pirate tattoos planned.
Great work Dee. The skin is a great colour, thought I thought you might have gone for a more weather beaten/tanned tone (though how I don't know.. or how to find a tanned English man) The tattoos are a nice touch, and I can't wait to see more of him. I think the base will be interesting when complete.
