Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've started a Ogre army for the new year. I started making a blog over on the Ogre stronghold but since i've been a long time member/lurker here I thought I would run it here also. So far I've got my paws on a battalion, box of mournfangs and an iron blaster. To date ive slapped some paint on 3 ironguts and a mournfang. so without further ado...
Ive not really run a painting log before so i'm not really up to speed on snapping pictures. I've also fixed the moldlines on the ironguts but havn't taken new pictures since. Any comments and tips would be most welcome
They looks good, the skin is great, fits the climate in which they live so very nice work there. I like the bases (especially because they look exactly like mine haha). Keep it up! +rep
Looking good chap. What's up next? Surely there's more to come!!!! The skin tone is nice by the way what colours have you used?
If I have to comment on the painting I'd say go a few highlights higher. The skin and red look a little 'flat' so maybe add a few more lighter colours to the harsh edges maybe? Otherwise it's all good. Especially the rust. Bases look nice too. Is that the new GW grass?
Many thanks for the advice on highlighting. My flesh is simply Calthan brown, followed by a layer of tallarn flesh and then elf flesh over it. I think i'll mix in a little bit of bleached bone into the elf flesh for another highlight. Indeed there is more to come. I'm currently working on another rank of the Ironguts. I also have the other mournfang based and undercoated so should have them up in the next few days. The grass is indeed the new GW tufts. I opted for the middenland ones
Nice to see the turf up close actually. I was undecided about it but seeing it now it looks really nice. I'll fork out and get I think so........ when will you get them pics up?? Your audience is waiting
I really like this squad, the bases are top notch, the metals are dirty/worn to perfection, and the swords are great! The rust is perfect, what did you use to achieve the rust?

Thanks very much for the positive comments. Its really motivating.
Lani Guy - The rust is simply a basecoat of boltgun metal, stipple on some beastial brown, stipple on some blazing orange and then highlight edges and scratches with chainmail.
Lord Borak - I have thought about doing tattoo's but im not sure what i'm going to call my tribe. I wanted the tattoo to tie in with their name. The one name that keeps going around in my head is the Thunderfist Tribe. So if its not to hand to paint I may do a fist clutching a lightning bolt on their shoulder or back
Sounds like a pretty cool name. With tattoos, remember Ogres (or Gnoblars) have painted them so they may not be works of art. Making them look 'too' neat or professional might make them look weird to be honest.
What snow did you use by the way??
