Well, I'm making a new thread after failing to even start the first, but hopefully this one will be better.
I own an O&G army from of old. It was painted in a few years - some models were my first ever, some were painted later or redone, so the quality varies. Getting back to the hobby, I joined a league (just four games, with semi-pro's), and decided to redo my Horde. It will take some time, as I am not a fast painter, and while I have much energy now, the pace will fall in a short time I guess. On the other hand, I just want to have them done to some unified quality - so it's mostly just a basecoat, one layer of paint and one wash (I discovered washes only recently, it's so much faster and easier!).
I forgot to take a picture of the whole lot - next time. In the O&G Army List section there's my list and I will take what's there to fix.
I added a wolf hero and hadn't owned one, so I quickly converted and painted him and I'm rather glad with the effect. I didn't have a cavalry base, so made one myself - this is the closest I ever got to a scenic base - which is not ready, don't know what color I want to do them all.
Behold - Mareczek:
This is a NG horde - the standard in the middle is actually the BSB. The first and second rank are freshly repainted, the rest is several years old.
And here - my general, BO Warboss, converted from a chariot crew. He's not especially impresive, I know, but has got a big axe and big mouth and some spikes,
I suppose it'd suffice. I'll paint him soon, I hope. The photo is especially shitty, sorry for that. The Invincible Joseph Muncher:
Thanks for watching any comment and criticism welcome!
Looking good mate. We could do with some more Orcy threads!!
The Wolf hero looks cool and the stolen elf shields makes me very happy as it means an elf has died. Not sure about the Axe though as that means your gobbo has stolen it from a Chaos Warrior and made him slightly upset. The Gobbo horde is impressive and I know full well the pains of painting up a horde of green skins. The unit will look 200% better when it's based though.
Black Orc needs a bigger axe though...... It looks like he stole it off that same dead Elf. No self respecting Orc Warboss goes to war without an axe bigger than a Horse.
Thanks guys. Borak, I hoped you'd like the shield - it's not like he borrowed it... But with the axe, actually, it is like that - my Chaos Warriors all use swords (they're half-Slaaneshi). So no Chaos follower was harmed during the making of this miniature.
Razhiel, thanks, I'm quite happy with him, but to tell the truth I'm not sure about the surprises. Maybe I10 from Gold Sigil and S7 from a Potion?
I tried with a bigger axe, but not sure if it'll work out (I'm very bad at sculpting, I know now):
This is the whole force: most of it painted, but need some more attention, some not even completely built.
And another four Gobbos ready:
I have no idea for the basing. Scorched Brown, if it is still in range? Green, like 'Eavy Metal of old? Something original, yet easy? Anybody?
So tonight I had my first ever 8ed battle and now I know how bad I am also at gaming. Got massacred vs Beastmen, over 2000 VP difference, totally wiped out. Well, gotta get better next time. On the other hand, I started painting my Warboss, maybe I'll finish him in a few days.
Next time I will try with Plasti-card, if I find any - but for now, Joseph Muncher is ready!
I'm not particularly happy with him, but will do. At least noone can say now his axe is not large enough. And hey, the choppas are crude weapons, the armybook says.
And Mareczek is based:
That's it for now, the army is packed and ready - this Sunday, it's Vampire Chopping Weekend!
Looking good only down side is the vamps will kill you and re raise that massive axe Looking forward to see what happens
"Should take you a while though because of your sloth like pace"
Click here and watch Gedderz try and cross the road
Thanks for comments - they keep me motivated. Gedderz - I hope it will be too heavy for him after he's dead. And maybe I'd take some of them with me first.
Here's my first ever unit filler (I need to add at least 4-9 Orcs to each unit):
I see him as taking a moment of rest during a murderous march after a long campaign. But maybe he's just trying to figure out what's written there and why.
